Nestled amongst the trees on a small farm located between Perth and Dundee, this striking contemporary cabin provides a relaxing retreat amidst stunning countryside. You’ll see the distinctive red roof of The Sheiling first, perched high on a hill with spectacular views over the treetops and out to the River Tay. The unique mirrored bathroom building is trickier to spot, reflecting the mature woodland surroundings. After long countryside walks, you’ll be able to sit back and relax in your private wood-fired hot tub as you soak up the view or snuggle up in one of the sheepskin armchairs with the wood-burner crackling away.
The main cabin is an open plan living, kitchen and bedroom space with big windows so you can make the most of the view. You’ll find two armchairs perfectly positioned in front of the windows so you can enjoy the scenery in comfort. It’s especially spectacular during sunrise and sunset. There's a well-equipped kitchen area, and the wood-burning stove, which keeps the interior of the cabin toasty, also provides you with an extra cooking facility with its wood fired hob and oven. The comfy king size bed is tucked away from the windows creating a cosy bedroom area.
The bathroom is located in the separate mirrored cabin just across the deck. Inside, you’ll find a shower, sink and toilet. On the other side of the deck, there’s some outdoor furniture and a wood-burner so you can sit out late into the evening, enjoying your surroundings. After a long walk through the surrounding woodland and fields, relax in the wood-fired hot tub set just above the cabin amongst the trees.
The cabin has been designed to produce minimal impact on the environment using a private water supply, electricity provided by the farm’s wind turbine and wood-fired cooking facilities. Guests also have access to a range of other facilities on the farm, including a wellness studio with gym equipment and a sauna, a tennis court and a games room.
There’s plenty to explore right on your doorstep and you’ll find paths that meander through the trees and past viewing platforms. You can stay on the farm itself or head out into rural Perthshire where you’ll find plenty of hiking and cycling trails. Water sports and bike hire are available at the nearby Willowgate Activity Centre and any keen fishermen can organise a trip to one of the local lochs. For a change of pace, Perth and Dundee are both 20 minutes away by car, both with plenty in the way of galleries, museums and restaurants.

Have you stayed here?
Leave a reviewDidn’t realise I could leave a review until coming back to request to rebook! My boyfriend and I came here for two nights for my 30th and the cabin couldn’t have been more stunning. The idea behind this cabin as ‘going back to basics’ was ideal for us as usually we hike & camp but this cabin combined the ‘off grid’ feel with luxury and we honestly couldn’t recommend enough. Additionally, the owners were so helpful - especially when our van broke down on leaving! ???? We promised we’d be back if they had us again and hoping to get booked up asap!

Of all the places my partner and I have stayed, our time at the Sheiling was undoubtedly the best. The cabin is spacious, comfortably equipped and is set in a private, unoverlooked location, surrounded by glorious nature. There are beautiful walks that goes on for miles directly behind the cabin, where I saw an abundance of wildlife including several wild deer. The cabin itself is very warm and cosy, even without the generous woodburner being used...and this was in early April! The bed is super comfortable as are the easy chairs, where one can lose oneself enjoying the stunning views. The hot tub is fantastic, easy to set-up and run and perfect for two. Thank you Tim and Suki for providing a wonderfully unique experience. We look forward to staying with you again.

Absolutely brilliant. We have stayed in a number of cabin/treehouse properties and this was easily the best designed and most complete offering - Suki and Tim have thought of everything and couldn’t have been more helpful and welcoming. The cabin: The attention to detail and thought that has gone into the design and furnishing of the cabin is superb. The Sheiling really has a personality and a lot of the items in there had a backstory. The natural materials and finishes were beautiful. You could tell every inch of it had been considered and nothing was an afterthought. The cabin is perched high up on the hill and the view across the river is stunning (the photos can’t do it justice). You’re not overlooked and feel totally immersed in nature. The wood-fired hot tub with a glass of wine and that view was sublime. Location: The area is beautifully rural - hills/forests are right on the doorstep and we did some great walks. There is Spar shop less than 10 mins from the cabin for essentials. We drove from London to stay here and it was absolutely worth the drive - the location makes it easy to stop off in Glasgow en route, or a slight detour to Loch Lomond which was also beautiful. Our only regret is not staying longer, but we will definitely be back. Thanks Suki and Tim - see you again soon.

I had the absolute privilege of being among the first guests to stay at The Shieling, and WOW!! My husband and I have never stayed in a cabin before, especially one off grid so we were very excited to try something new. We were met by Tim who took our bags up to the cabin, whilst we walked up through a path in the woods. On arrival we were blown away by the attention to detail not only to the very high end luxury furnishings and fittings but to the sheer beauty and elegance of the place. From the stunning headboard, French linen sheets, Fisk handmade Arran chairs and ESSE log burners, to the separate shower & toilet section which is filled with the enveloping smells from the beautiful Noble Isle products that are there for your to use at your leisure. A real treat was the outside wood fired Hikki hot tub. It took a couple of hours to heat the natural spring water that was in the tub for us, but once it was to temperature it was just sublime. Whilst lying back relaxing and watching the stars above, and looking out the views across the River Tay to Fife was such a serene experience. The stay certainly left me feeling very relaxed and calm as there are very little distractions due to the tranquilly and calmness of the surroundings. The cabins have been so well built to work with the environment and putting the beautiful Scottish countryside at the very heart. Suki and Tim have thought of everything you will need to make your stay one you will cherish and remember forever more, and if I could have given it six stars I would :)
