The HideAway is nestled upon a private hillside in the East Neuk of Fife, just a stone’s throw away from the coast. The stunning property has been creatively designed to blend into its idyllic surroundings and have as little impact on the environment as possible. Simple yet luxurious, It’s the perfect haven for couples to switch off, relax and immerse themselves in nature. The incredible location offers easy access to the deserted beaches, scenic coastal walks and quaint fishing villages of this relatively undiscovered part of Scotland.
The cabin is the brainchild of an expert team that is passionate about nature, conservation and environmentally conscious modern design. 100% carbon neutral, it was built from sustainably sourced local timber and features thermally efficient double-glazed windows throughout. Solar panels provide all the electricity (there is a backup generator if needed) and the innovative roof collects rainwater which is fed into the water system, making it completely off-grid.
Inside the home is just as impressive as the exterior. It is characterised by huge glass windows and doors that provide lots of natural light and sweeping country vistas to the spacious open-plan interior. The living area is furnished with a large, comfy sofa and is kept warm and cosy by a woodburning stove, which can also be used for cooking. Large sliding doors open out onto the deck, extending the living space and letting the outside in.
Guests can make use of The HideAway’s fully equipped kitchen, which features bespoke oak cabinets and an oven, hob and fridge powered by LPG gas. You can then dine inside or alfresco on the private deck, the best place to take in the view. And after the sun sets, why not keep warm beside the fire pit and relax under the starry sky? If you fancy popping out for food, just a couple of minutes' walk from the HideAway is a vegetarian cafe that uses produce from the surrounding area and its own edible garden.
When it’s time to wind down, guests can retreat to the bedroom and the sumptuous king size bed with luxurious duvet, pillows and linen, all handmade in Scotland. Large windows surrounding the bed mean you can wake up to panoramic views of the breathtaking landscape. A fully fitted bathroom with shower, heated towel rail and WC with eco-sensitive waste management system completes the property.
The East Neuk of Fife is an incredibly picturesque area on the east coast of Scotland, about an hour from Edinburgh. It is famous for its charming seaside villages and spectacular coastline, where you can spot seals, dolphins and whales. You can discover this wonderful region at your own pace, or try out a wide range of activities and experiences recommended by the hosts. These include kayaking in remote coves, boat trips with a local fishing guide and mountain biking through forest trails. Also nearby is St. Andrews, a town renowned for its historic university and world-class golf courses.
