The Priory Barn is a truly exceptional property guaranteeing guests a wonderful stay in a relaxing, but beautifully designed and furnished, converted barn. Wooden beams run along the vaulted ceilings and further beams have been left exposed in the walls. White tiles and crisp, white walls show off these original features and, combined with the high ceiling, create a light, spacious breathtaking environment.
One side of the barn overlooks a pretty pond, so watch the ducks dabbling while you while-away the time interrupted only by the sounds of nature. The interior of the barn has an impressive open plan kitchen, dining and living area - the bedroom is situated on a private mezzanine.
The kitchen area features a double oven and large fridge freezer. An island offers plenty of space for preparing romantic meals and the open plan set-up ensures you don't miss one second of that precious quality time. Beams criss-cross the windows throughout the barn, creating interesting shadows on the white-tiled floor. A large, solid wood dining table has seating for six on stylish, and comfortable, rattan cantilever chairs.
After dinner settle in for a cosy evening in front of the wood burner or head outside onto the pretty patio area for a sundowner in the dusk light and let yourself be serenaded by birdsong.
Back inside and the living area has been thoughtfully furnished in a eclectic contemporary style. There are stocked bookshelves and, should guests have to finish off some work or feel inspired to create, there is a useful workspace area.
A large sofa and armchairs sit opposite a flat screen television which is surrounded by several table top lamps, ideal for creating more intimate lighting for those romantic evenings curled up on the sofa. The crisp white bathroom and toilet are also downstairs.
Up to bed and enjoy the experience of the mezzanine bedroom. The timber beams which run through the property are further highlighted in this lovely space - they have created a headboard affect above the bed which is illuminated by light from a rectangular window, as well as more light beaming in from elsewhere in the barn. The double bed is comfortable and crisp linens and cosy blankets make it an inviting prospect which you won't want to leave.
The Priory Barn is located in the pretty county of Suffolk and there is plenty to see and do in the local area. The seaside towns of Aldeburgh and Southwold are a 16 mile drive away, and Orford, 17 miles away, is a great spot for foodies. Pinney's fish shop, Pump Street Bakery and The Castle Hotel and Restaurant are all recommended.

Leave a reviewAmazing in all aspects, location, privacy, quality and overall experience. Nick was excellent with communications, along with a very handy guide of places to visit. The barn is probably the best we have stayed in - it was as if we were the first people to ever stay there. Spotlessly clean, all considerations met. An amazing location that is is quiet and tranquil. Sitting in the morning with a coffee watching the ducks and moor hens with their chicks was a treat. The local pub serves good food, Framlington and Southwold are both within easy reach and lovely to visit. Overall, there is nothing negative I can say on The Priory Barn, the owners or location. 5/5. Thank you! James and Liz.

Our most recent Coolstay adventure was a week at Priory Barn following a busy weekend at Latitude festival. The owners were really proactive prior to our visit with a raft of really useful local information and arrival instructions. On arrival - WOW! The outside of the barn is pretty cool but inside - a magnificent space. Really well done renovation/renewal of a fantastic old Suffolk barn - the pictures don’t do it justice. A lovely open conversion filled with really thoughtful and high quality furniture and top-notch appliances. Despite the owners living next door ( we wouldn’t have known without Nick’s welcome greeting on arrival) there is a high degree of privacy. A bike or car is essential as the barn is tucked away in a very rural spot. A five minute drive however, and you find yourself in Framlingham with shops/bars and good restaurants and Aldebugh, Southwold and Orford lie 20 minutes away. If you’re looking for a truly Coolstay as a base to unwind and explore the delights of Suffolk then you really won’t do better than Priory Barn. We will certainly return as soon as possible Bill Welch

By far the BEST place we have ever stayed in. I've travelled all over the world and never had such an amazing experience as this. Accommodation far exceeded my expectations as they were already high from the photos. Nick and Clark were so friendly and helpful but also gave us space. The surrounding countryside and villages were perfect for a relaxing break. We've already decided to come back in the summer. We love it here so much and cannot praise the facilities the barn offered, super cosy, high tech, all mod cons, so comfortable, stylish. Literally everything you could ever want. 5 star + and then some. The views of the pond from the lounge and the extensive countryside all around makes you totally relax. I’m already excited to book in another weekend and hope to make it longer next time. If you want some serious luxury at great rates, in a stylish and comfortable setting with views to die for. Look no further, this place is a must for anyone.

Our first Cool Stay booking ...and what a find! How can somewhere be so spacious and cozy at the same time ? High spec fixtures and fittings with attention to detail and all mod cons. Friendly hosts on site if needed. We intended to do a lot of nothing, and that is exactly what we did! A truly exceptional place to watch nature go by and totally relax .
