Beautifully converted stone barn in a Derbyshire hamlet surrounded by the rolling hills and dales of the Peak District, a romantic escape.
Set amongst pretty stone buildings and surrounded by some of the Peak District’s spectacular hills and dales, this beautiful barn conversion is a cosy hideaway for two. This stylish studio suite was once the pigsty at Hurdlow Grange. It has been expertly renovated and is now perfect for a romantic countryside escape. The exterior has retained all the charm of the original stone farm building, while you’ll find a contemporary interior makes the most of the space.
Step inside through the barn door and you’ll find yourself in the clever, compact kitchen space. This features everything you’ll need to whip up quick, tasty meals including an electric oven and a hob. On warmer days, enjoy your meals outside in your private, walled courtyard which has a picnic table, a barbecue and some other outdoor furniture for whiling away sunny afternoons. The cottage is located at the bottom of a communal courtyard, shared with the rest of Hurdlow Grange but you’ll have plenty of space to yourself where you can enjoy the outdoors without being disturbed.
To the right of the kitchen, you’ll find a modern shower room with fluffy towels waiting for you. Move back through into the main space and you’ll find the cosy snug with a luxurious velvet sofa in front of an electric fire. The perfect spot to put your feet up and relax after a long walk or bike ride. The double bedroom is at the end of the barn with a four-poster bed, warm lighting and a smart TV.
The Pigsty is located in the rural hamlet of Hurdlow, a small collection of stone buildings, cosy cottages and a pub which serves up fantastic home-cooked food. Surrounded by rolling hills and wide open spaces, there’s plenty of countryside exploring to be done. You can access the High Peak and Tissington trail, suitable for walking or cycling, straight from Hurdlow. If you need to hire a bike, stop off at Parsley Hay along the way. Despite the secluded location, a 10-minute drive will get you to Buxton where you’ll find plenty of shops and places to grab a bite to eat. The market town of Bakewell is also just 10 minutes away where sampling the famous Bakewell Pudding is a must.
