Sitting proud atop Eagle Tor in the Peak District is Boulder Field Cabin. This idyllic, romantic retreat for two has been beautifully hand crafted, offering you a rustic, rural aesthetic, with comfy furnishings to ensure you have an enjoyable stay. Add to this the fact that you have amazing views out across the valley, and you've got the perfect location for your next countryside holiday.
The cabin is quaint and makes clever use of its space. There's a futon sofa bed, which is low and firm, and offers you added space in the day when it's folded up. You can also enjoy the amazing views from your bed thanks to the nicely positioned windows, meaning you can wake up to a 180 degree vista. Then there's also a fold down table, which offers you somewhere to eat inside, whilst also creating more space when it's folded away. The cabin also has a wood burning stove to keep you nice and toasty in the colder months, whilst you have a couple of electric sockets allowing you to charge your phone or laptop.
When it comes to dinner times you have a covered outdoor kitchen area where you can sit and eat al fresco when the weather's warm. Here there is running water, a brand new gas BBQ with gas ring, and a table and chairs. Basics such as pots, pans, kettle, cafetière, crockery, cutlery are all provided. The cabin's smart composting loo sits in its own wooden cabin 10 metres from the main space.
Boulder's Field Cabin's shining light is the wood fired hot tub. This sits on a boulder and looks out across the valley, meaning you can hop in for a relaxing soak with a bottle of bubbly, whilst taking in the incredible view. There's also an outdoor shower nestled amongst the rocks. Guests are provided with fluffy towels and an Earth Kind shampoo bar.
When it comes to venturing out, the cabin sits on 15 acres of private land. This means you have plenty of privacy and peace, and lots of nooks and crannies to explore. If you head further afield then the entire Peak District National Park is right on your doorstep with miles and miles of incredible mountain scenery, pretty walking routes, and lovely country pubs. You even have some great hiking and climbing options that are accessible right from your front door!

Leave a reviewAbsolute perfection! This was everything we was expecting and more, seeing the photos were amazing but actually being there was truely wonderful. Going at this time of year was slightly chilly…but the Japanese hot tub was so warm you could sit there all night, the wood burner in the cabin was also a life saver and kept us cosy whilst we played board games and relaxed in the evening! To top everything off the hosts, Gerry and Racheal, were fabulous! They provided us with everything we needed, welcomed us up to the cabin with a short tour around and made us feel very much at home, (also left us home baked brownies which were delicious). I also loved all the recommendations they emailed us when we booked the cabin, this helped us navigate plans a lot better and all of the recommendations were spot on!!

What a fabulous place to stay! The cabin and the space around it is an absolute wildlife haven. Birds and wildlife spotted, are listed below. Aside from all the birds and wildlife, it’s tranquil, outdoor living with a touch of luxury. The cabin is cosy and provides a warm, comfy place to sleep. The panoramic windows mean that wildlife watching and stargazing anre easy, even from inside. However, the best place to be is outside. The spaces are rustic but brilliantly thought out. We cooked and ate every meal outside with ease, making the most of the views. The shower is fabulous: best one we’ve ever had! The decked area with comfy chairs is a perfect place to just sit and relax, and the hot tub is worth the effort to heat it up. There are also some woods and land on Eagle Tor that we enjoy just wandering on. Rachael and Gerry provided everything we needed and were excellent hosts, making us feel very welcome. All in all, we’d highly recommend this place and will happily return. Birds and wildlife from our short stay: Redstart Tawny owl (several heard) Cuckoo Garden warbler Willow warbler Blackcap Nuthatch Wren Chiffchaff Goldfinch Blue tits (nesting) Great tits Long-tailed tits Chaffinch Dunnock Robin Blackbird Song thrush Crow Raven Rook Magpie Jay Pheasant Pigeon Wood pigeon Buzzard Norwegian Fallow deer Bats Wood mice Grey squirrels Rabbits

A beautiful tranquil location, with excellent facilities. If you are looking for peace and a stress free environment this is definitely the place to find it. The hosts were very welcoming and imparted a wealth of information on the local area and bird life. We had a wonderful time and hopefully will be back soon.

Thank you Gerry and Rachael for an absolutely wonderful stay. We stayed for 3 nights and it was exactly what we hoped-beautiful, peaceful, and a break from life! Everything in the cabin and facilities were so thought out, and Gerry and Rachael have really carefully designed and provided everything you might need to have a great stay. The hot tub was spot on and the cabin was super cosy. Also, I don’t think I’ve ever come across such a brilliant outdoor loo! We made use of the walks nearby and hired bikes nearby too. Plenty of great pubs and beautiful surroundings. Thank you so much, we absolutely loved it ???? Donna and Josh x

The cabin is more beautiful in person! Rachel does the best brownies and Gerry was such a great host and greeter! Very knowledgeable and friendly, we had a wonderful stay even in the wind and rain! A shower with the view is unbeatable and it’s a pleasure to be surrounded in nature.

Well where do I start! I booked this as a suprise for my partner and boy did I do good! From start the finish our little getaway was perfect. From the detailed directions, great communication with Gerry and Rachael, small touches (homemade banana bread on arrival) and eye for detail of the cabin. Along with local information including walks and pubs (which we sampled and were amazing!) we fell in love with Birchover and Boulder Field cabin. Thank you for sharing this special place with us. It was just what we needed. No screens, no kids and just being in nature and with each other. We will definitely be booking again. A little gem in Derbyshire!

Amazing place to stay! This cabin has everything you could wish for - amazing views, total privacy, luxury hot tub and all the home comforts you need. It's rare places exceed expectation but this certainly did. Rachael and Gerry are perfect hosts and very knowledgeable about the local area and the history. Cannot recommend this cabin highly enough and we will be back to stay again!

Just returned from the most relaxing, serene and spiritually sound weekend at the beautiful Boulder Field Cabin. From the moment we and arrived we were welcomed by the lovely Gerry. Special shout out to Rachael who made the most exceptional brownies! Thank you both for building such an amazingly beautiful and tranquil space and allowing those of us lucky enough to visit to share this. Already looking forward to planning out next trip to what quickly became one of our favourite places we’ve been in a long time. Everything is just perfect and so well thought out and of exceptional quality. Thank you so much. Chantelle and Alistair x

Me and my partner stayed here for my birthday weekend and it was absolutely everything we had hoped and more! The cabin itself was so cosy and warms up very quickly with the log burner. There was some lovely unexpected touches too, such as homemade brownies and chocolates. The hot tub and outside shower were both amazing - I’d also encourage others to explore the land around the cabin! Would absolutely stay again and will be recommended others to stay!

What an amazing, quirky place to stay!! Once you are up at the top the views are breathtaking, and you are completely free from the hustle and bustle of everyday life! You have everything you need, we cooked both evenings, and breakfast too. The cabin is very cosy, don’t worry about being cold, the wood burner is very efficient. We visited Bakewell, Ginger Butchers is wonderful. Many lovely walks around, do the Stanton Moor one and visit the Flying Childers pub. We found the Druids Inn in the village too. The outdoor shower is invigorating, please try it, we didn’t get chance to use the hot tub in the light but it was magical in the dark. Just a wonderful place, well maintained and thought out!! Well done Gerry and Rachael!! Can’t wait to plan our next visit.

We stayed here for a relaxing anniversary weekend. The location is ideal to get away from day to day hustle and bustle of life. We actually live quite locally but wanted to stay somewhere quiet, and tranquil and boulder field cabin is certainly both. The owners are very welcoming and Gerry was extremely knowledgeable about the local area and history and as we walked to and around the cabin explained everything brilliantly. The cabin has everything you need and having a log fire just adds to the relaxation factor. The log-burning Japanese style soaking tub was brilliant, and I loved the fact that Charlie (The golden lab) came to visit us for a bit of sausage when cooking breakfast, a very friendly chap. We visited Bakewell and the nine ladies on Stanton moor, both in close vicinity. A great little peak district gem, we would 100% recommend it! Thank you both to Gerry and Rachael! Oh and the brownies were lovely too :0) All the best Nick and Nicola

This place is all about unwinding and immersing yourself in nature. Its one of those 'you need to go and see it for yourself' places. Its magical - the secluded, private setting means you can totally relax and soak up the surroundings in your own time. The facilities are perfect - wood fired hot tub, heated outdoor shower, the outdoor kitchen area, and the beautiful cabin which was the best stargazing spot ever! Nearby, there is plenty to explore, and the adjacent village has a couple of lovely pubs. Last but not least, the hosts (dogs included!) are a delight. Rachael was so lovely, and took her time showing us around the accommodation and its surroundings. The whole place is an absolute gem. 5 stars simply isn't enough !!

What a fabulous stay and superb property. Location was excellent for visits (Chatsworth House/Bakewell/amazing local walks). The owners could not do enough to make our stay comfortable and relaxing. The views from the cabin were stunning and the hot tub and decks perfectly positioned to make the most of these. The cabin itself was cosy, and thoughtful little touches made this an extremely enjoyable stay. Will certainly be back.

Absolutely amazing. From the first moment of booking, communication with Rachael was first class. On arrival we were met by Gerry, Charlie and Jeffrey, their dogs and welcomed to heaven on earth- Boulder Field Cabin. Wow what an amazing, relaxing place it is. Everything you need is there, so you really can travel light. The hot tub and outdoor hot shower make the stay ultra special. Eating and cooking outside were fantastic. We arranged Sauced Here to deliver some amazing food- again 100% recommended- steaks/ breakfast and afternoon tea - very high quality food. Lovely local walks, followed by evening meal at The Druids Inn , 10 minutes walk from the cabin. The cabin itself is amazing with amazing views and gorgeous wood burner to keep it lovely and cosy. We will definitely go back and would 100% recommend to people who want to escape reality.

Absolutely amazing property. Perched on a solitary crag. Really relaxing place to stay. Outstanding walks from outside the door and a deep, welcoming wood fired hot tub to relax in after a day's walking. Takes some time to heat up but well worth it as you can sit watching the stars. Very welcoming owners plus dogs. A place where you can just meditate and relax if you want. Especially liked the different decks around the crag where you can just sit, read and take in the view. Rustic but luxury idyll. I can't praise it enough. Looking forward to coming again next year
