One of The Times’ Top 10 Holiday Cottages in the UK, this marvellous barn offers a wonderful retreat tucked away close to the spectacular North Devon coast. This four-person barn offers modern comforts that combine with traditional charm to create a truly amazing getaway.
The barn has recently been refurbished, with the open plan living space having a modern, minimalist design. Whitewashed walls combine with deep pops of colour and beautiful mid-century furnishings to create a calming atmosphere in which you can socialise and unwind. Get comfy on the sofa with a glass of wine and catch up with loved ones, or sit in the hammock chair, offering a fantastic spot to get lost in a good book.
The open plan living space is great for staying connected, and features a Danish wood-burning fireplace and underfloor heating to ensure you stay toasty and warm all-year-round. At the far end of this space is the modern kitchen, which is nicely equipped with contemporary appliances that make meal prep a breeze. Includes Pukka tea selection, Climpson coffee beans, grinder, aeropress, french press and drip coffee options. And when dinner is ready, dine on the round mid-century dining table that comfortably seats four.
When it comes to entertainment options, the owners have provided a broad library stocked with wonderful fiction and non-fiction books, and there’s also a number of games at your disposal.
As night falls, head to one of the two cosy bedrooms - a master with a king size bed and a second bedroom that can feature one or two singles. Both bedrooms share a sleek, modern bathroom that features a luxurious walk-in shower and fabulous eco-toiletries.
If you step outside, you’ll love your surroundings. The barn sits in a peaceful corner of some pretty gardens and has a BBQ for some alfresco grilling as well as a firepit so you can stay toasty and warm all year round. There’s even a hammock out here, should you wish to enjoy an afternoon snooze in peace.
When it comes to venturing out, there’s lots to see and do nearby. Explore the south west coastal path between Bideford and Hartland to discover ancient forests, smuggler coves and breathtaking views. The golden sands of Westward Ho are perfect for swimming and surfing.
The historic villages of Clovelly, Appledore and Instow offer charming restaurants, shops and museums. The famous gardens of RHS Rosemoor are a joy to explore all year round.
