A renovated granary, this luxury bolt hole is wonderfully situated in the Northumbrian countryside not far from Hadrian's Wall.
In a setting that boasts arresting undulating vistas, easy access to stunning Northumbrian countryside, and just a short journey from the ancient Hadrian's Wall, you will find Old Granary House. Wedged between the North Pennines AONB and the Northumberland National Park, this traditional English stone house has been beautifully renovated to the highest of standards. Its rustic exterior is perfectly juxtaposed by a sleek and stylish interior, creating an air that is at once contemporary and homespun. The house features an expansive communal area, a gorgeous patio with outdoor furniture, and a cosy wood burner. Sleeping seven guests across four bedrooms, Old Granary House promises a serene stay for families and friends alike in a truly magnificent location.
The principal communal area is open planned, housing the living room, kitchen, and dining area. The sleek grey kitchen has all the mod cons needed to make cooking a breeze and is connected to the eight-seater dining area via an additional breakfast bar. The comfy sitting room has two sofas, an armchair, a smart TV, and a warming wood burning stove. The whole area is bathed in natural light courtesy of the floor-to-ceiling patio doors. Step through the doors and onto the patio, where you can dine al fresco at the outdoor furniture as you take in the scenic Northumbrian countryside views.
All four upstairs bedrooms demonstrate an eye for style and comfort in equal measure. The three double bedrooms have an ensuite shower room: two are king size while the third is a super king size which also functions as a twin. Lastly, the comfy single bedroom features a charming Juliet balcony. A separate family bathroom has a bath that's ideal for a relaxing soak as well as a shower, basin, and WC.
The Old Granary is nicely nestled in Hadrian's Wall country, surrounded by rolling hills, walking trails, and bridle paths. You will also find the 170-mile-long Hadrian's Cycleway nearby which, although no mean feat, offers a combination of challenging and relaxing sections. The UNESCO World Heritage site of Hadrian's Wall itself is just a short way from Old Granary, as are St. Oswald’s Way, Chesters Roman Fort (one of Britain's best preserved Roman forts), and the Simonside Hills.
A five minute drive from the Old Granary is the Michelin Star rated Hjem, a destination restaurant which seamlessly blends Scandinavian and British gourmet cuisine. For those of a more urban persuasion, the historic market town of Hexham is just six miles away and hosts a local farmer's market on the second and fourth Saturday of every month.
