Make lasting memories with your loved ones at this thoughtfully designed period home on the meander of the South Tyne River.
Dating back to the 1700s, this former rectory has been skillfully renovated to create a family-friendly abode for a group of 12. Set amidst rolling countryside, peace and quiet are guaranteed whether you’re unwinding with a coffee in the sitting room or enjoying lunch on the patio on a balmy afternoon. The home is equipped with everything you’ll need for a laid-back break. To make your stay even more special, why not arrange a spa treatment or a private chef via the concierge service?
Access the property through the handy boot room, where you can kick off muddy wellies after rambles along country lanes. You’ll head into the kitchen, the heart of the home, expertly styled with original features, upcycled antiques and eclectic artwork. The island ensures plenty of space for your mise en place, and there is all the equipment and utensils needed for flexing your culinary muscles. The dining room is located in the orangery, just off the kitchen, where a glass lantern roof lets in lots of natural light. The downstairs is completed by a sitting room, divided into two separate areas with a smart TV and an open fire, and two comfortable ensuite bedrooms, boasting king size beds and rainfall showers.
Upstairs, on the first floor, you’ll find three further bedrooms and two family bathrooms with roll-top baths for soaking your cares away. Toiletries, fluffy towels and robes are provided, and all duvets and pillows are hypoallergenic. On the second and final floor, there’s a snug for enjoying a quiet moment and the final ensuite bedroom with two single beds that can be arranged as a super-king double if you’d prefer.
There is a garden at the rear of the property, with a manicured lawn, a patio and a BBQ for making the most of warmer weather. When you feel a thirst coming on, you’ll be pleased to know the Kirkstyle Inn is just 75 yards from the property. The establishment also serves food, so you certainly won’t go hungry. Location-wise, you’re around a 12-minute drive from the market town of Alston and the Pennine Way, the UK’s first national walking trail. History fans should visit the Epiacum Roman Fort, just a seven-minute car ride away, while fishing enthusiasts cast off on the River Tweed.
