A grand holiday home a short walk from Windermere, Number One No.1 can introduce 14 guests to the wonders of the Lake District
A short stroll from the village centre and only 15 minutes from the lake itself, Number One No.1 is the ideal place for a larger group visiting Windermere. Wonderfully well equipped and full of charm, this 6-bedroom house with an outdoor terrace, hot tub and barbecue is made for the good times.
Welcoming up to 14 human guests and two well-behaved dogs, Number One No.1 does things on a big scale. Its spacious dining room, for instance, can seat up to 20 people, so they’re happy for you to invite a few friends along to share the moment. The elegant leather sofas in the lounge can also squeeze in quite a few – up to 18, in fact.
You have a large plasma TV and DVD player in the lounge, along with a Bose sound system and Wi-Fi. There’s more room to relax out on the terrace, or in the spacious kitchen which offers a 4-oven Aga, dishwasher, microwave and everything else you may need. There are plenty of dining options, with catering or meal deliveries available, and many eateries in the village. Booths supermarket is only 300m away, but if you would rather have your groceries delivered to the house, that’s possible too.
With the Lake District famously good for walking, you’ll be glad to know there’s also a separate utility room for your wet, muddy boots and clothes – and it’s a nice spot for the dogs as well. You can start your ascent of nearby Orrest Head from the front door, and there are many more outdoor pursuits waiting for you in the area – archery and clay pigeon shooting among them.
The house features six eclectic bedrooms – a flexible collection of kings, doubles and singles should cover virtually any configuration you may require. There are several bathrooms too, one being an en suite. There are two family bathrooms, one on the first and one on the second floor, as well as a wet room and downstairs toilet. If you are bringing any very young guests, a travel cot and high chair can also be provided.
As one of Cumbria’s most visited destinations, Windermere has a lot to offer, from lake cruises to steam trains and a popular aquarium. You can hire bikes to explore the area from a facility just 100m from the house. For lazier days, there are numerous cafés and bars around the village – and if even that sounds a bit too energetic, you can lie back and enjoy pampering and beauty treatments from the comfort of Number One No.1.
