Gorgeous stone cottage near Inverness with cosy modern interior, beautiful views, roll-top bath, wood burner and a delightful private garden.
Kinkell Cottage is a perfect haven for couples seeking a tranquil getaway in beautiful surroundings. The cosy interior and lovely private garden make it a wonderful choice no matter the time of year.
You'll find this excellent example of a traditional stone-built Scottish cottage nestled at the foot of Kinkell Castle, an enchanting building in its own right. The cottage itself feels isolated and private though it is within easy distance of attractions and shopping opportunities.
The interior is warm and welcoming, spacious and light with numerous notable pieces of art on the walls and in sculpture form. You'll find more dotted around the garden. The previous owner, Gerald Laing, was an iconic artist during the Pop Art era, and art lovers will be delighted by the private gallery of his, and other artists' works throughout the property.
The living room is the perfect place to unwind after a big windy walk with a wee dram. A colourful velvet sofa and armchair by the wood burner provide the cosiest atmosphere to curl up with a book or enjoy a little snooze.
The kitchen is modern and immaculate with everything you could need for your stay including a dishwasher, washing machine, hob and oven and the always popular Nespresso machine. Cook a romantic meal and enjoy it together in the brand new alcove glass extension. The view of Ben Wyvis is breathtaking and the seating intimate and cosy. This is also a lovely place to enjoy breakfast and make plans for the day.
When it's time to turn in you can head through to the pretty bedroom with its high ceilings and a very comfortable king size bed decked out with soft high quality linens. Snuggle up and enjoy a peaceful night's sleep with nothing but the sound of the wind for company.
In the morning you have two bathrooms to choose from. Either head through to the immaculate ensuite and start the day with a refreshingly powerful shower. Or take it slow and lazy with a long bubble bath in the stylish roll-top bathtub whilst enjoying the pretty view of the garden pond.
After a hearty Scottish breakfast (square sausage anyone?), head out and explore the area. Conon Bridge and Dingwall are just five minutes away and visible from the cottage. Stroll over for shopping and head to The Mallard for a pint or The Cottage Bar & Restaurant for a good Sunday roast. Inverness is only 15 minutes by car and the villages of Cromarty, Fortrose and Rosemarkie all come highly recommended. After a long day out enjoy a sundowner in the garden or cosy up by the wood burner with a glass of wine.
Please note: minimum stay for this property is: 2 nights low season & 3 nights high season
