Enjoy glamping at its very best with breath-taking mountain views across the Cairngorms at Highland Shepherd Huts. Designed to nestle into the beautiful and tranquil backdrop of the Scottish Highlands, this is the perfect place to take a step back from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and relax and unwind surrounded by nature.
There are two huts on site, named Coorie and Bothan. Each has been lovingly hand-crafted in order to blend into the stunning landscape without impacting upon it. Yet this is far from roughing it, with each shepherd hut providing modern and luxurious accommodation for those staying.
Both huts are cleverly laid out spaces, with each having a galley kitchen, complete with a gas hob, combination oven, and a fridge/freezer - as well as a slide out dining table and chairs. The place is kept warm and cosy whatever the weather outside by the wood burner.
Bothan is the larger of the two huts, sleeping up to four guests. There is a king size sofa bed on the ground floor, while the second king size bed is on the mezzanine level and is accessed by a wooden ladder. Coorie accommodates two people, meanwhile, with a raised king size bed to ensure a peaceful night’s sleep.
Outside each hut is a decked area, which is the perfect spot for a morning coffee or evening drink. From here, guests will be able to spot a number of native Scottish animals - from pheasants to hares, deer to the occasional osprey.
Of course the real highlight of Highland Shepherd Huts is its spectacular location in the heart of Cairngorm National Park. It is a playground for those who love the outdoors, with a number of activities available to suit everyone. There are walking and biking trails through the mountains and along the river, while there are also opportunities to get out on the water itself. For golf lovers the region is a gem for the sport.
The nearest village is Nethy Bridge, which is the ideal starting point for numerous walks, including around the RSPB Abernethy Reserve. In the village itself is a well stocked store for essentials, as well as a butcher, and Nethy House Cafe.
