Surrounded by cider farms and the open countryside of the Somerset Levels, this beautiful thatched building dates all the way back to 1564. A careful renovation has preserved much of its historic character while adding plenty of luxury. There are exposed beams overhead and huge fireplaces repurposed as nooks for TVs or to house lighting features. The modern extension is where you’ll find the kitchen, fully equipped for large groups or hosting a dinner party. There’s also space for entertaining in the private garden which features a gas BBQ and two hot tubs, the perfect place to relax after a long walk in the Somerset countryside.
The open plan kitchen and dining area connect the original part of the house with the more contemporary extension. At one end you’ll find a dining table in front of an enormous old fireplace where you can still see an old oven built into the side. At the other is a spacious kitchen with a breakfast bar, fully kitted out for any culinary challenge. After dinner you have a choice of cosy living spaces to put your feet up in. Watch a film in one living room or get stuck into a board game in the other. There’s also a smaller snug where you can escape with a good book.
Head upstairs to find the seven bedrooms, all with unique features from beautiful old fireplaces on the first floor to the exposed beams in the attic rooms. Up to 15 guests can be comfortably accommodated with four king size doubles, two twin rooms and a room with three singles at the top of the house, making a cosy hideaway for the kids. If you need a bit of extra sleeping space a sofa bed and a Z bed can accommodate another two guests.
On sunny days, head out into the large garden where you’ll find plenty of space to soak up the scenery and enjoy the natural surroundings. There’s a gas BBQ and garden furniture to seat 17 so you can enjoy long lunches together while making the most of the outdoors. You’ll also find not one but two hot tubs, making sure that no one misses out.
