This former coach house is brim full of charm and curiosity. With high vaulted ceilings, wooden beams and exposed brick walls, Bluebell Cottage is an idyllic getaway that sleeps up to eight in a magical, beautifully presented home. On arrival you'll be struck by how much character this place has. The history of the building is very much on display with the beams and wood floors but it's the eclectic furniture and delightful treasures dotted around that make this retreat so unique and lovely.
The living and dining room is very welcoming and cosy with two brown leather sofas, gorgeous wooden furniture and a dining table with comfy high-back rattan chairs. Light spills in through a door leading to the garden and the walls are hung with pretty art and cool vintage movie posters. A large flatscreen TV is just right for enjoying a film with a glass of red and some popcorn and if the evenings are a little nippy there's a wood burner in the corner to make everything just a bit more snug.
The three bedrooms are upstairs and have a luxurious feel to them, with the beautiful wooden beams standing out against clean white walls. The beds are big and comfy with crisp linens. And the rooms are gorgeously decorated with lovely eclectic pieces, a blue sofa in one, some gorgeous vases in the other. There's something to admire at every turn. The master en-suite boasts a fabulous silver tub for deep long soaks. Don't forget to pop your bathrobe on the heated rails for after! There's also a rain shower for those mornings when you want to wash the cobwebs away. Both bathrooms are finished to a high standard and have the feel of an upmarket hotel with fluffy towels and complimentary toiletries.
The kitchen is modern, light and fully equipped for all your cooking ambitions, and whilst someone else does all that, you can wander out into the garden and admire the stunning setting. Maybe take a leisurely stroll and enjoy the candy floss wisteria and bluebell woodland (everything is lush and lovely), admire the ponds dotted around the property or take a dip in the large heated pool (which the owners are more than happy to share with you) and sip some champagne. There's a private tennis court, a par three golf hole, boules court and a football field so you can play all day or simply grab a bottle of wine, sink into a chair and watch everyone else do that.
In the evenings you can light up the fire pit and gaze at the night sky. The owners have provided everything you could need for a thoroughly enjoyable stay and the discovery of all the personal collected treasures around the place from their travels are the icing on the cake.
Lacock is often used as a filming location so you may recognise some Downton Abbey or Harry Potter in the setting. It has a host of cafes, delis and traditional pubs nearby, while further down the road you’ll find beautiful Bath in less than thirty minutes, so book in a spa day and enjoy the old city. Boasting some of the UK’s sunniest summers, Wiltshire even has a healthy crop of vineyards, crafting sparkling wine and cider. Pick up a few bottles and the rest of the county’s fresh, local produce at the weekend farmers markets that fill the towns.
