Elegant and eclectic, this wonderful houseboat sits on the edge of a private lake where guests enjoy peace and tranquility in this most private and exclusive location.
Relax by the water and absorb the quiet - interrupted only by the calls from the abundant birdlife living by the lake. This former canal barge has been renovated and refurbished in the most thoughtful way. Chic and elegant, the owners have thoughtfully utilised the space to create a luxurious environment where every comfort is catered for.
Guests arrive at the boat after traversing a bumpy country track taking them to the three-acre lake which is surrounded by 20 more acres of woodland that's teaming with wildlife. A gravel track and tin planters sit on a grassed garden area and beyond it the Blackbird sits majestic on the waters.
Visitors enter the vessel through double doors which take them directly into the kitchen area of the open plan space. Chic grey cupboards sit amongst modern appliances in this well-equipped kitchen where guests will enjoy putting together meals whilst enjoying the surrounding views.
A separate dining area is situated opposite the kitchen and next to the unbelievably cosy living space where a bench style corner sofa sits by a wood burning fire. Large scatter cushions invite guests to pour a drink, kick their shoes off and enjoy the sight of the flickering flames. Warming and relaxing, an evening by the fire is great way to unwind before hitting the sheets.
The large double bed, dressed in crisp linens, is cleverly positioned behind the sofa so is out of sight. There is a beautiful en-suite shower room but guests may want to walk the gangplank to the lakeshore and into the stylish bathhouse where visitors find a free-standing, slipper bath where lengthy soaks can be enjoyed while taking in the splendid views. Throughout the boat there is lots of smart, space saving storage, so despite the boat being bijoux there are plenty of places to stash belongings.
Blackbird is situated near the Atlantic coastline of North Devon. Surfers will want to get in the waves while novices will find plenty of surf schools offering lessons. For days away from the beach, excellent hiking can be enjoyed on one of the famous neighbouring moors, choose from Exmoor, Dartmoor or Bodmin.
