Set in the peaceful village of Lea on the outskirts of the Forest of Dean, this charming little cottage could have come straight out of a fairytale. This striking building in the shape of a tower, complete with a tall pointed roof, is a luxurious hideaway for couples looking for a quiet escape in the countryside. After a day walking or cycling in the Forest or exploring the nearby market towns and villages, put your feet up in the cosy living room or even do a bit of stargazing snuggled up outside on the private terrace.
Step inside the tower and you'll find the interior has been beautifully renovated to create a contemporary space that celebrates the building's original rustic charm. A staircase winds its way up to the bedroom, where you'll find a luxurious double bed below the triangular-shaped window. The ceiling features exposed wooden beams that reach all the way up to the top of the pointed roof, creating a lovely sense of space. You'll find fluffy towels and robes waiting for you on the heated towel rail in the stylish bathroom featuring a rainfall shower.
Downstairs, there's a contemporary kitchen where you'll find everything you need to whip up simple meals and there's a well-stocked village shop a short walk away where you can stock up on supplies. After dinner, snuggle up on the cosy velvet sofa and enjoy a movie on the TV or get stuck into a board game.
If you fancy heading out to explore, there's plenty to see and do right on the doorstep. Pack up a picnic and head out into the Forest of Dean for a long walk or bike ride amidst the enchanting woodlands. If you're feeling adventurous, hire a canoe and spend the day paddling along the River Wye. For a bit of culture, explore historic sites such as Goodrich Castle and Tintern Abbey and learn a bit about the rich history of the area. The nearby market town of Ross-on-Wye is also renowned for its historic buildings and you can spend a leisurely afternoon strolling through the quaint streets and along the river.

Leave a reviewWe had a really lovely stay at the Fairy Cottage. It was a great base to explore the surrounding area and it was a cute place to come back to each evening. The cottage was cute and compact and had everything we needed for our 3 night stay. We'd love to come back in the future.
