The Redford Farm Barns are nestled deep in the idyllic South Shropshire Hills, not far from the picturesque market town of Ludlow. Both barns have been beautifully refurbished and transformed into luxurious, self-catering holiday homes. Their boutique interiors create the perfect atmosphere for cosy retreats with family or friends, and were even featured on one of Nigella Lawson’s Christmas specials. For flexible accommodation, they can be rented separately or together for bigger groups of up to 13.
As well as relaxing in the comfort of the barns, guests can explore the 12 acres of private fields they are set in and make use of the fabulous facilities. Why not cook alfresco in the outdoor kitchen, head to the neighbouring ‘Old Stable Bar’ for drinks and games or make a campfire and toast marshmallows under the stars? Or you can relax and unwind in the beautiful wellness area, with its Baltic wood-fired sauna, cold plunge tub and cold-water outdoor shower. The health benefits of hot and cold therapy include improved immunity, relaxation, reduction of stress, relief of pain and much more.
You’ll also be welcome to collect freshly laid eggs from the resident hens and say hello to Pip and Susan the friendly sandy and black pigs, who are always happy to meet guests and receive your veggie leftovers. Also, on your exploration of the farm you will meet ‘Butch and Sundance’ the woolly Ryland rams, surrounded by their lovely ladies.
Ludlow barn is the larger of the two properties, sleeping up to nine lucky guests. It’s the ideal accommodation for families, with a large living area, three spacious super-king size bedrooms (two of which can be set up as twins, one with an ensuite bathroom) and a child’s bunk room. At the heart of the home is the open-plan ground floor space, which is kept warm and cosy throughout the year by a log-burning stove. Deep, comfy sofas and a smart TV are ready for rainy days and movie nights, and an extendable dining table waits for candlelit dinner parties. The kitchen is a real cook’s dream, fitted with high-end appliances, including two Bosch ovens, and everything else you could need to cook up a storm.
Tenbury Cottage is attached to the main barn but is very private. Open-plan living here is both stylish and homely, with sumptuous sofas and a log-burning stove beside a well-equipped kitchen and dining area. Guests can retreat to one of two super-king size bedrooms when it’s time to sleep. One on the ground floor with an adjacent bathroom and one with an ensuite shower room upstairs past a mezzanine with rocking chairs. Both rooms can be made up with twin beds on request.
The retreat is found in the stunning South Shropshire Hills, on the border of Herefordshire and Worcestershire. This location gives guests excellent access to three wonderful counties, which are full of things to do and places to visit. Many scenic country walks, cycle trails and historic sites are right on your doorstep, just ask the friendly hosts for more information. And finally, the historic town of Ludlow is just a stone’s throw away, famous for its many festivals, fantastic eateries and speciality shops.
