Woody is a charming shepherd’s hut that sits in a peaceful slice of Dorset countryside on the grounds of a beautiful bed and breakfast in an Old Forge that dates back to the 1700s. Despite being on the grounds of the B&B, Woody offers you and your loved one plenty of privacy, providing you with the perfect base for your next romantic retreat.
When you arrive, you’ll be immediately calmed by the tranquility all around you. Drop your bags off and hop into the big hot tub where you can relax with a drink in hand whilst taking in your surroundings. The hot tub is wood-fired and sits under cover, ensuring you can enjoy an indulgent soak no matter the weather. Unwind here as the sun sets, before drying off and warming your toes in front of the firepit as you gaze at the stars above.
When you step inside, the hut has a delightful interior with rustic charm in abundance. Light the wood-burning fireplace and stay cosy and warm as you hop into the cosy bed for a peaceful night’s sleep. In the morning, open the door and let the outside in as you put on the digital radio and enjoy a morning coffee in bed or on the upcycled bedstead veranda as you watch the local wildlife at play. When it comes to entertainment, you’ve got a few options at hand including a collection of books and board games as well as some binoculars for birdwatching.
The bathroom is just a short stroll away, tucked inside a thoughtfully converted outbuilding. Featuring an antique commode-turned-composting toilet, a reclaimed bathroom suite, an electric shower, a sink and a heated towel rail — it’s a quirky yet cosy spot for all your comforts.
During your stay you will have exclusive use of the glamping kitchen, which is a short skip from Woody. Here, you’ll find all of the amenities and appliances you’ll need to whip up a feast, including some essentials, like tea, coffee, local biscuits, dog treats and marshmallows for the firepit. You can even buy our own free range eggs to cook up in the kitchen or take home. On top of this, there’s also a BBQ hut, where you can grill up some delicious local produce during your stay and a pizza oven can be provided too.
If you wish to venture out, there’s so much to explore nearby, from scenic walks to unforgettable attractions. Step straight from the door onto Fontmell Down and Melbury Beacon for sweeping views across the Blackmore Vale. Visit Compton Abbas Airfield for vintage planes and local BBQ, or dive into history at Bovington Tank Museum. Longleat Safari Park, Shaftesbury and Sherborne offer family fun and historic charm, while Sturminster Newton and Blandford Forum showcase Dorset’s rural heritage.
