The Smithy is the latest addition to The Yan, an idyllic farm conversion in the heart of the Lake District National Park. The detached, one-bedroom cottage is tucked away in a picturesque yard, ideally positioned to make the most of the stunning views across the crags and fells. Once the farm’s blacksmiths, the 19th-century property has been transformed into a luxurious holiday home. It is the perfect haven to return to after a day out exploring the Lakes and makes a wonderful romantic retreat. And if you’ve worked up an appetite, why not eat at the onsite restaurant, a rustic bistro renowned for its family-style hospitality and menu full of hearty British classics that showcase brilliant local produce?
The Smithy has been carefully refurbished into a contemporary home, retaining original features like the high ceiling and exposed wooden beams. All on one floor, it is small but expertly formed and finished with premium furnishings and high-quality fixtures. The main space comprises of an open-plan living, kitchen and dining area. A cosy room where guests can fire up the log-burning stove, snuggle up on the comfy sofa and watch a movie on the 55” 4K smart TV. The kitchen is bright and modern, well equipped with everything you could need to cook up a storm. Don’t fancy cooking? Why not have breakfast or dinner delivered from the Bistro?
French doors in the living area open out to an enclosed, south-facing garden with outdoor seating and BBQ. A lovely spot for alfresco dining or simply relaxing with a glass of something cold, watching the lambs roam the nearby fields or the sunset over the crag. When it’s time to sleep, you can retreat to the delightful suite, where a sumptuous king size bed awaits. A light and airy bathroom with a bath and shower completes the property. Crisp white linen, fluffy towels and Pure Lake toiletries are provided for your stay. Optional extras include fresh eggs from the farm’s ducks and hens, champagne and extra wood for the log burner, all delivered to your door.
The Smithy couldn’t be better located. The Lake District is quite literally on its doorstep, as are many excellent footpaths and trails, lakes, tarns and rivers (ideal for wild swimming!). Grasmere is also just a short stroll away, a beautiful village home to many great shops, cafes and pubs. There are plenty of other things to keep you occupied, including visiting Beatrix Potter’s House or an action-packed day out at Go Ape. You’ll find an information booklet with some of the best walks, attractions and activities at the cottage, just make sure to bring suitable clothing and footwear if you plan on exploring the fells and valleys.
