This stunning former village school makes a unique and memorable stay for guests seeking a peaceful escape in the beautiful Oxfordshire countryside.
Arrive via the impressive gravel driveway and prepare to fall in love with this period limestone school. Ring the old school bell, situated high above the front door, before entering into the stunning double height kitchen and dining room.
Kick off shoes, underfloor heating keeps toes toasty, and head to the exceptionally well-equipped kitchen for a well-deserved cup of tea.
A large kitchen island houses the oven and hob, as well as providing a lovely communal area for guests to gather for morning coffee. Gaze out through the patio doors to the pretty garden beyond and make plans for the day.
The dining area features a large table which is perfect for lengthy dinners lasting late into the night. Light the candles, open the wine and enjoy some of the wonderful local produce available from nearby farm shops.
For those seeking some peace and quiet away from the gang, there is a lovely snug with comfy sofas and a wood-burning fire. It's a relaxing spot for curling up with a good book on winter evenings or gazing out the window at the pretty views.
The School Hall has a fabulous landscaped garden with plenty of lawn for kicking a ball around. A glamorous patio has stylish outdoor furniture including a dining table, sofa and chairs, where guests can while-away sunny days and warm evenings.
When it's time for bed, there are three bedrooms all set amongst the beams in the roof of the school and all with their own luxurious bathrooms. Linens and mattresses are all of high quality and rooms are dark and quiet, guaranteeing a great night's sleep. All rooms are double or kingsize and bedroom three also includes a small double sofa bed on the mezzanine level.
The local area has beautiful countryside which can be explored from the front door and there are lovely local pubs for refuelling, The Back Lane Tavern at Woodstock and The Bell at Charlbury both come highly-recommended.
