Tucked away in the charming village of Mickleton, surrounded by the rolling hills and picturesque countryside of the Cotswolds, this lovely little cottage is perfect for a peaceful getaway. Once a malt barn, the building has been beautifully converted to create a cosy and romantic retreat while maintaining plenty of its original charm.
Start the day with a cup of coffee on the private patio as you take in the tranquil atmosphere before tucking into breakfast, delivered to you each morning. Head out for a walk in the countryside, stopping off at one of the local pubs for lunch, or head up to Stratford-upon-Avon and enjoy a trip to the theatre. In the evenings, return to your cosy hideaway, perhaps rustling up some dinner on the BBQ before curling up in your king size bed.
Step inside The Malt Barn and you’ll find yourself in a small lobby where you’ll be greeted by a welcome pack and a kettle and coffee machine to make yourself a hot drink after your journey. There’s also a contemporary bathroom on the ground floor, complete with a rainfall shower, fluffy towels and Duck Island and Daylesford toiletries.
Make your way upstairs to find the large bedroom, flooded with natural light through roof lights. The sloping ceilings and natural tones used in the furnishings make this a cosy and relaxing space, perfect for unwinding after a day of exploring. There’s a luxurious king size bed which you’ll find ready and waiting for you with crisp, fresh white sheets. There’s also a dining area where you can tuck into breakfast and plan the day’s activities.
If the sun is shining, you might prefer to sit out on the private patio and soak up the peaceful surroundings. There isn’t a kitchen but you’ll find a fridge in the lobby and a BBQ outside, perfect for warm summer afternoons. There’s a great butcher within walking distance if you fancy doing some cooking outdoors or there’s an award-winning pub a short stroll away.
You’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to outdoor activities, with walking and cycling routes right from the front door through the beautiful Cotswold countryside and several golf courses nearby. There are also pretty market towns and villages to explore with Chipping Campden and Broadway both just a few miles away. The historic Stratford-upon-Avon is just nine miles away where you can enjoy a visit to Shakespeare’s birthplace and watch a play at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre.
