This quaint stone chapel was built in 1885 and has now been lovingly converted into a gorgeous holiday home for any couple looking to explore the Cotswolds. Made from beautiful Cotswold stone The Chapel is wonderfully unique, and at over 130-years-old it allows you to take a break and stay in a truly historic building that has all of its old world charm, whilst still enjoying a modern twist.
Fabulous artwork, hand crafted furniture and large windows combined with the exposed stonework throughout, ensure that The Chapel is the perfect blend of classic and contemporary design. And with stunning views of the nearby River Eye, this charming living space is surrounded by some of the Cotswolds’ most picturesque scenes.
You can cosy up next to the wood burner in the delightful open plan living space, which really does have everything you need for a romantic night in. Cook up a wonderful meal for two and dine with a glass of wine before snuggling up on the corner sofa as the sun sets making your countryside all the more spectacular. The bedroom above sits on a mezzanine floor as does the gorgeous tiled shower room with a basin, and the separate toilet is downstairs. There's also a delightful paved garden with a table and chairs, where you can sit in the spring and summer whilst enjoying the colourful flowers and fresh countryside air.
The Chapel is situated in the lovely Cotswold village of Upper Slaughter, which is listed as an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. This area is renowned for its rolling green hills, trickling streams and fabulous limestone towns and villages. Venture out and wander from The Chapel along many footpaths and explore some of Great Britain’s best countryside. Make your way through peaceful meadows, hike down valleys or enjoy the tranquility of the woods before heading into a rustic village for a pint of local ale and a glass of wine.
If you want to travel further and see which other wonderful towns and villages are nearby then you can hop in your car and head to Stow-on-the-Wold, Buford, Winchombe, Broadway, Bourton-on-Water and Chipping Camden, all of which are easy to get to. And if you want to pop out for some great food in a proper old fashioned pub or delightful restaurant, then you’re in luck as there are plenty of those nearby!

Have you stayed here?
Leave a reviewThis is a lovely converted chapel and exactly what was needed for us for a weekend away. The space has been very well designed to fit in all the needed amenities with off-road parking and is dog friendly. It is surrounded by lovely countryside with plenty of walks and it is a short drive to Stow-on-the-Wold and other lovely places. We would definitely consider staying here again the next time we visit the Cotswolds.
