The Little House, set in picturesque countryside near the UNESCO World Heritage listed Jurassic Coast, is designed with comfort in mind. With gorgeous views, a super comfy bed and a pretty, private garden, it makes the perfect base for two (and a dog) to explore this beautiful part of West Dorset.
From the outside, you’ll find a single story timber-clad abode, set in a magical garden of pretty flowers and fragrant herbs. This sunny south-facing outdoor space has a terraced seating area with wonderful views and a fire bowl, so at night you can enjoy a glass of wine under the stars to the occasional hoot of an owl.
Step inside the double doors and you’ll find an inviting open-plan sitting room and kitchen. A cosy sofa, tasteful furniture and homely finishing touches, such as soft lighting, candles and flowers from the garden, set the scene for relaxation. There’s no shortage of entertainment, with a flat-screen TV, Wi-Fi, DVD player and a Bose Bluetooth audio system, as well as a good stock of books and board games.
In the kitchen, a tin of delicious homemade flapjack awaits. This area is well equipped with a gas hob, a combined microwave and convection oven and a fridge. You’ll also find necessities, such as tea and coffee, thoughtfully provided. A utility room in an adjacent building has a washing machine, tumble dryer and freezer. It’s a good spot to store bikes or dry off wet dogs after long muddy stomps in the countryside.
The bedroom makes a restful space for a good night’s sleep. Previous guests have commented on the comfort of the super king size bed, where you can nestle down into a soft feather duvet and crisp white cotton linens. A fitted wardrobe provides plenty of space to hang your clothes and there’s an all-important full-length mirror.
In the spacious en-suite bathroom you’ll find a bath and shower with good water pressure and lots of hot water. The oval basin set in a marble top was acquired from a local manor house and makes a stylish feature. There’s also a heated towel rail, good quality soap and soft towels for added luxury.
On the outskirts of the village of Hooke, The Little House is perfectly placed to explore this beautiful part of West Dorset. There are many fantastic countryside walks from your doorstep and some good restaurants and award-winning pubs nearby. Three miles away, the pretty market town of Beaminster has great shops and cafes. A 15 minute drive takes you to the Jurassic Coast, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Lyme Regis with its fossil shops, buzzing cafes and seaside attractions is just 13 miles away.
