Situated in a picturesque Devon village, The Bakery is a unique, stylish holiday home for two that's perfect for your next rural romantic retreat. With high ceilings and beautiful period features, this riverside property offers you and your loved one the ideal spot to rest and unwind. You're also just 15 minutes from the coast and have access to a wide range of fantastic walking routes that you can explore throughout your stay.
The open plan living area is charming and has plenty of character thanks to the stylish rugs, rattan-backed chairs, bamboo pendant lights and vintage, art deco pieces scattered throughout. This space has a nice sofa and an arm chair, so you can get comfy with a good book or enjoy a movie on the TV. It also backs onto the quaint dining area that has a stylish round table that seats four. When it comes to meal prep, the kitchen has all the mod-cons you'll need to whip up delicious feasts, as well as plenty of work surface space.
The bedroom is the true treat of the property with beautifully printed walls featuring leafy green designs. You can enjoy a fab night's sleep in the king sized bed that is dressed with fresh white linens and accompanied by chic brass bedside wall lamps. In the morning draw back the draped white linen curtains and let the outside in via the fantastic French double doors. This means you can enjoy a morning coffee whilst gazing out over the garden, or open up the doors and let the country air flow in.
Next door to the bedroom is the delightful bathroom with its lovely paisley print walls. Relax and unwind in the roll-top bath tub or enjoy a morning soak in the separate shower.
The Bakery also has a quaint enclosed gravel garden area with a table and chairs where you can sit and enjoy an al fresco meal in summer. This pretty garden is lined with potted plants and fragrant herbs.
When it comes to heading out, The Bakery is nicely placed for you to explore all that Devon has to offer. It sits in the traditional thatched village of Gittisham, that was once described by Prince Charles as ‘Devon’s prettiest village’. Gittisham is on the edge of the East Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, which is characterised by its rural rolling hills that head all the way down to the famous Jurassic coast, peppered with a fantastic array of beaches and seaside towns.
