Tucked away in the picturesque village of Woolsery, The Old Smithy is a lovingly restored 18th-century cottage with a truly outstanding and stylish interior. Blending old-world charm with modern luxury, this marvellous former blacksmith’s workshop oozes rural charm with its exposed wooden beams, original stone walls and warming wood-burning fireplace.

The Old Smithy sleeps two, making it ideal for couples looking for a romantic break in the Devon countryside.

The main living space in this charming retreat is the open plan living area. This incredible space features polished cement floors, underfloor heating and a giant bi-folding door that floods the room with natural light. Get comfy on the giant L-shaped sofa in front of the fire in winter and when the weather’s warm slide open the doors and step out into your private courtyard garden.

Back inside, the open plan living space also features a wonderful dining area, with an ornate dining table and super-comfy seats, which makes romantic meal times a delight. And off the living space is the fabulous, state-of-the-art kitchen where you can whip up delicious feasts during your stay.

The home has an upside-down arrangement, with the fabulous bedroom on the ground floor. This room guarantees a wonderful night’s sleep and features’s its own cosy wood-burning fireplace. It also has a deluxe ensuite bathroom with a walk-in rainfall shower and a wonderful free-standing bathtub, which offers an amazing spot for an indulgent soak after a day exploring the area.

Your private courtyard garden also features a lovely seating area where you can settle in with a good book and also has a gate into the garden of the amazing Farmer’s Arms pub. So you can pop to the pub for a drink and a bite to eat, before making the super-quick walk home through the garden!

The Farmer’s Arms is a restored 17th-century pub, where historic character meets contemporary comfort. The interiors are warm and inviting, with exposed wooden beams and crackling wood-burning stoves setting the perfect scene. On the same site, you’ll find Woolsery Fish & Chips, a local favourite serving up sustainably sourced seafood with golden, hand-cut chips.

For those looking to explore, the dramatic Hartland Devon Heritage Coast is just a short drive away. Its rugged cliffs and sweeping beaches offer spectacular coastal views, while the South West Coast Path invites you to discover hidden coves and scenic trails. History lovers can visit the historic Hartland Abbey with its enchanting gardens, or wander through nearby villages like the postcard-perfect Clovelly.
