This beautiful Victorian gatehouse in the grounds of historic Samlesbury Hall offers a luxurious and very cosy retreat. It would be a wonderful romantic getaway for couples but can accommodate up to six in two well appointed bedrooms with space for two on one comfy sofa bed in the living room.
The cottage itself is something to behold with its traditional exterior and pretty location surrounded by gardens. Inside you'll find luxury and comfort with a great attention to detail.
The interior is light and welcoming with a beautifully decorated living room. A large comfy sofa sits beneath two windows with views of the garden and faces a toasty wood burner, perfect for chilly nights in with a bottle of wine and a pack of cards. Or perhaps enjoy a movie night with the latest Smart Frame HD TV which comes with Prime. Tasteful art covers the walls and various plants are dotted around amidst the heritage colours and fabrics that create a cosy (and historically accurate!) home from home vibe. A small bar area provides a perfect spot to gather and enjoy a welcome glass of fizz.
The kitchen comes fully equipped with everything you'll need to prepare delicious meals and two high-back bar stools facing the counter are perfect for watching the cook with a glass of wine or enjoying a quick breakfast before heading out to explore.
The main bedroom boasts a sumptuous king size bed with a cane-back headboard where you can enjoy a restful night. A second twin bedroom is perfect for friends or children sharing and the beds can be pushed together for couples. And if six of you are staying, the comfy sofa opens into a very cosy double bed!
In the morning you can make use of the fabulous modern bathroom which comes with a powerful shower and a decadent slipper bath where you can while away the time in bubbles with a good book. Head to the kitchen and help yourself to a coffee from the Nespresso machine before seating yourself in the lovely garden to plan your day.
Guests have free access to the Hall, the stunning grounds and a fun play trail for those visiting with children.
If you fancy breakfast or lunch away from the cottage, you can walk to the popular Heritage Cafe where you'll find a plentiful menu serving breakfast, lunch and a delicious afternoon tea. For those with a sweet tooth you'll be delighted by Dottie's Wafflery, a favourite with the kids! As if this wasn't enough you'll also have the choice of fine dining at the splendid Garden Room Eatery, where you can enjoy a romantic meal or a delicious locally sourced Sunday roast. And best of all, it's dog friendly!
Whether you choose to head out and explore the surrounding area or stay put and enjoy guided tours, fabulous tales of ghosts and hauntings, or delicious fare served at three different restaurants, Samlesbury Hall and its charming gatehouse is a wonderful escape from the modern world.
