This former factory washroom of a cotton mill and ironworks was expertly converted into a magical 710sqft, two-bedroom home spread across two levels, is designed to mimic the "cave-like" houses of Oia area of Thira Island (Santorini), Greece. This home is perfect for couples, and small groups.
Inside, spaces have been designed to feel like cavernous shelters, with a mix of white, angular, and curved walls and ceilings that were also designed to look like spaces that have been carved out of a monolithic rock. As you wander through the space, be captivated by the alluring play of light and shadow, guided by the vaults and arches that evoke the mystique of ancient cave dwellings and the unique spaces of Santorini vernacular architecture.
The social, open plan living space is framed by 5 arches, and connects the fully equipped kitchen, with the 6-seater dining area and lounging area complete with Sky cable TV. Friends and family can get comfortable whilst you rustle up a Meze board, some Gyros, or mix some Ouzo based drinks (because let’s face it, no-one is drinking that stuff neat).
Both bedrooms feature king-size beds. The master bedroom has the grandeur of double height ceilings and features a large couple’s bathtub. The second bedroom, nestled neatly in the ceiling space of the ‘cave-house’, features restricted height ceilings. The third optional standard-double bed converts in the living space from the sofa.
The bathroom, appearing as if it was chiselled from rock by a Greek god or goddess with its vaulted curved ceiling, is fit with wash station and vanity area, and walk-in rain shower that appears to fall from the sky, fit for Zues himself.
Nestled on the Eastern edge of Manchester City Center, Santorini offers more than just a place to stay. Ancoats & New Islington is a thriving neighbourhood that blends modern living with rich community spirit. Once an industrial area, it has been transformed into a vibrant destination featuring contemporary homes, scenic canals, and lush green spaces like Cotton Field Park.
At the heart of New Islington lies its picturesque marina, a tranquil spot surrounded by stylish apartments, Michelin star restaurants, independent cafés, and artisanal bakeries like the renowned Pollen Bakery. With excellent transport links via the Metrolink and a short walk to the bustling Northern Quarter, New Islington is a hub of culture, creativity, and connectivity, making it one of Manchester’s most desirable places to live and visit.
