Retreat to the wild, Welsh hillsides and weave your own romantic, country tales with a stay at this sweet cabin in the heart of Wrexham, North Wales. Hidden amongst the natural overgrowth of an ancient grouse moor, The Dog House is a secret hideout that has a seductive allure. Watch captivating sunsets on your streamside veranda, or magical starry skies from your fresh, spring water hot tub. With a tranquil setting in remote, country scenes, it is a unique find plucked from your wistful daydreams.
The boutique wooden cabin is a converted kennel that once belonged to a traditional shooting lodge. Now beautifully updated as a snug couple’s hide, it has a simple wood façade concealing its rustic-luxe style. Gnarled wood and rugged textures reflect its down-to-earth character and are joined by modern home comforts and contemporary touches. Expect polished lighting and natural wood floors, alongside handmade toiletries and exposed wriggly tin walls.
Climb the uneven steps up through the dangling trees to find your own handwritten welcome sign inviting you in. Step through the front door and cosy down inside or head straight to the veranda to admire the surrounding countryside. There’s a bijou kitchen-living room for snuggling up indoors, along with a gorgeous double bedroom and chic, stylish bathroom.
Curl up on the sink-in leather sofa amongst the plump, faux fur cushions, reading a book beside the fire and planning a star-lit dinner. The bespoke designer kitchen is small but perfectly well-equipped and has sleek appliances and a sophisticated, black finish.
Dine indoors or beside the babbling stream, watching the playful wildlife and the darting birds. For that added touch of romance, fire up the wood burning hot tub and while away your days in complete and utter comfort. When night time falls, your sumptuous bed awaits with its fluffy duvet and thick woollen blanket.
Beyond the stillness of your cabin lies the beauty of the flourishing landscapes where you can explore enchanted forests, mysterious mountains and secluded, sandy beaches. Cast your fishing rod in the sparkling River Dee, following the famous Offa’s Dyke path or biking amongst the stunning Llandegla Forest trees. Wrexham and Chester can also be found nearby, and have an interesting history dating back to Roman times. Finish your day back in the quietude of your cabin, soaking up the sublime country views and planning your next adventure.

Have you stayed here?
Leave a reviewWe stayed here for 2 nights from Good Friday. Absolutely loved it. We were blessed with fab weather too. Lovely little place. The Dog House is ideally situated and very private even though owners house and Owl Lodge are nearby. It sits alongside the stream. We found the bed really comfortable which is always a bonus. The Dog House has everything you need and more. All the little extras the owners have included were really good, more than some hotels. There was a fab welcome pack for us and our little dog. Jenny and Margaret were great hosts too. We will definitely stay here again.
