Nestled alongside the banks of the River Vyrnwy in the heart of Wales, The Boatshed is perfect for a romantic getaway. Overlooking the river and with its own private beach area when the river is low, this is a unique spot that will help you get closer to nature. Wake up in the mornings and watch the river rush by from your bed, cook outdoors over the fire pit and watch the local wildlife from your own terrace.
The Boatshed is fully equipped for a unique glamping experience. There is a cosy double bed and another single sofa bed, making it perfect for a couple or a small family. Snuggle up in front of the log burner on chilly nights and you can even do a bit of stargazing as you’re far from any light pollution. There’s a terrace overlooking the river with a glass front where you can sit and relax as the river goes by and watch the sheep in the nearby fields. Some of the bottle-reared lambs are friendly enough to come and say hello.
The Boatshed has its own toilet and sink and you’ll have access to the luxury shower block, just a minute’s walk away. There is a small kitchen with a sink, fridge and basic cooking facilities inside and you’ll be able to cook up a feast on the open fire outside. The Boatshed also has access to a communal kitchen, shared by other Camp Plas guests, where you’ll find gas hobs, a sink and a covered table area. There’s an honesty shop on site where you can stock up on essentials, such as milk, eggs and bread for breakfast and local bacon, sausages and BBQ packs are available to preorder for your stay. There is also a private outdoor shower and bath looking over the river Vyrnwy to relax in.
Camp Plas is located on a traditional working farm, so there’s plenty going on especially during lambing time. You’ll also have the chance to have a go at some traditional crafts, such as felting with the wool from the sheep on the farm.
Popular with outdoor enthusiasts, the area has plenty of scenic walks through the rolling hills of Mid-Wales and the Coed y Brenin and Gwydir Forest Parks are nearby. Snowdonia National Park can also be reached in 90 minutes by car if you fancy a really challenging walk. The river makes a great location for birdwatchers with wagtails and goosanders to spot and four species of owl perching amongst the trees. The nearest pub is a short drive away in Llanfair or you can explore the cafes, independent shops and restaurants in Welshpool.

Leave a reviewStayed at the Boatshet for two nights April 8-10 for our daughter’s 9th birthday and we all had a wonderful time! This place is fault less you couldn’t find a single thing to moan about. Beautiful boat shed in a beautiful location with beautiful hosts.. another thing that’s worth mentioning is this place has everything you need, we have been to a few similar type places and this one had everything! (Robes, hot water bottles, a ninja air fryer, soft towels, fizz in the fridge & much more) Outside bathroom is magical.. we always look for a hot tub when we stay in any cabin type of holiday but I think I prefer the outdoor bath now it was perfect. I could write so much more about this place but I’m running out of words.. if you’re thinking of booking this place then DO IT!
