Perched in an idyllic rural location, and boasting enviable vistas out over the loch, The Cottage at Mid Auchengowan was renovated in 2019 into a stunning two bedroom holiday home, available for friends and families to rent as self-catered lochside accommodation. Easily reached from Glasgow airport, and with close driving proximity to Loch Lomond as well as Glasgow and Edinburgh cities, The Cottage at Mid Auchengowan is a perfect holiday cottage for anybody looking to explore the rural charms of central Scotland while remaining in easy reach of the big city.
Both of the bedrooms are on the ground floor and are made up with ultra-comfortable king size mattresses and hotel-quality bedlinen, and each has their own bathroom. Upstairs, you'll find that the entire floor has been converted into one enormous open plan lounge and kitchen, as well as offering two full size sofas, meaning an additional two guests can sleep comfortably up here.
As well as state of the art cooking amenities, there is also a dining table with space for everybody, and super-comfy sofa facing the Netflix and DVD-enabled TV. In the winter months, light the wood-burning stove for added cosiness, and sit down to a slap up meal, made with local fish or game, before snuggling up on the sofa with a bottle of single malt whiskey. In the summer months, throw open the doors which lead off the Juliet balcony, and let the sweet smells and bird song drift in as you gaze out, watching the light hitting the loch.
Whether your ideal holiday is hiking, distillery visits, fishing in the loch, or experiencing the vibrant and international cities of Glasgow and Edinburgh, The Cottage at Mid Auchengowan is the perfect spot for you.
Many guests choose to remain in the local area, visiting the region's charming pubs with their arrays of local beer and whiskey, fantastic home cooked fare, and year-round cheer. Being right on the loch, The Cottage has great access to a range of water sports, while you can also easily get to the beaches at Troon and Largs, as well as Kelburn Castle. Alternatively, if you fancy a trip further afield without the hassle of driving or booking trains, arrange a tour of the Highlands, or nearby cities through one of the owner's partner companies specialising in tours. East Yonderton farm is a great soft fruit farm just 15 minutes away, while the Trossachs National Park is unmissable for any outdoors enthusiasts.
