In the stunning Scottish countryside, a stone's throw from the famous Loch Lomond, surrounded by wildlife, Stable Cottage is the perfect spot to unwind and let the youngsters run free in nature. Visitors will fall in love instantly with this pretty stone cottage filled with bright colours, soft textures and cosy furnishings.
Step through the stable-style door into this characterful property with its tongue and groove panelled walls and wooden floor boards. Pack away supplies in the good-sized, well-equipped kitchen with its appealing teal cupboards, star-tiled back walls and discreetly concealed appliances. Fresh coffee and Tunnock's Tea Cakes are left out for hungry guests to devour before dinner.
Guests can settle down to delightful dinners at the large farmhouse-style wooden dining table which is found in the living area of the cottage. Settle in for lengthy mealtimes followed by board games, day planning or simply catching up with loved ones.
This lovely sitting room is full of colour and bespoke furniture, and the blue velvet sofa set is stylish and inviting. Colourful rugs cover the wooden floor boards and bright curtains keep any night chills at bay. There is a flat screen television for movie nights or head outside for some star spotting on a clear evening.
For moments of peaceful reflection, or to enjoy the sun's rays or watch the squall pass overhead, seek refuge in the calming conservatory. Relax on the wicker furniture, enjoy a good book or watch the red squirrels race amongst the trees. You can also pay an extra £50 to hire the outdoor wood-fired bath tub for relaxing soaks under the stars, which the hosts can heat up for your arrival.
On sunny days, head outside, there is lots of outdoor space for youngsters to explore, make dens and discover rope swings. Light the BBQ and grill some bangers to enjoy at the patio dining table. As night falls, light the firepit and watch the bats dart about overhead. There is a walled garden and also a little wood and meadow to wander and enjoy. You do share the garden with the hosts who live next door. They have two young children and a very friendly dog, who you will probably bump into.
When it's time for bed, there are three delightful bedrooms. On the ground floor, guests can choose the from the pretty double room or the bunk room. Upstairs, in the eaves, is a charming twin room with roof lights offering views of the night sky, though this room does have a low door and low ceilings.
Stable Cottage is superbly located. It is a short drive from Loch Lomond for cruises, wild swims, walks and picnics. The Trossachs will call to hikers, while lovers of the seaside will want to explore lively Helensburgh. You're also nicely placed for day trips to Glasgow and are not too far from Glasgow Airport if travelling by plane.

Leave a reviewWe stayed for a weekend at Stable Cottage as a family of 3 with a 3 year old as a base for visiting friends in Glasgow. The property itself was beautifully furnished and it was clear a lot of care had gone into its design. The owners have clearly thought about everything and there were many little details that made the stay stand out from other similar cottages we've stayed in previously. We only wish we had been able to stay for longer and spend more time exploring the area as its in an ideal location to explore Loch Lomond

I normally forget to write reviews but on this occasion I thought I must because of how brilliant our time was at stable cottage. Zoe and Iain were such welcoming hosts. They were on hand for anything we needed and very helpful for tips on walks in the area. The cottage is beautifully done, so homely. Zoe left us a lovely welcome package including some really useful baby bits for our 4 month old - travel cot, change mat, baby bath and shampoo etc. really unexpected! We stayed for 4 nights and would happily have stayed longer. We loved the pizza oven and fire pit outside. Would highly recommend this gem!

We had a two night stay at Stable Cottage but we could have stayed for so much longer. It was hard to leave! Zoe and Iain were the most lovely, welcoming hosts. Generous on every level from the most stunningly designed space, endless treats and thoughtful touches throughout and information and help on tap. The cottage is so comfortable, warm and welcoming and you feel instantly relaxed and at home. The weather was not great but it didn’t matter. We were so happy to just be in the space with our Scottish whiskey, treats, games, puzzles, books and wood fired hot tub. We will definitely be back! Cannot wait! If you are thinking of booking The Stable, don’t hesitate!
