This wonderful cottage is steeped in history (Queen Victoria visited in 1875) and has been recently refurbished to a very high standard. It would be an excellent choice for a family or friends seeking cosy and peaceful accommodation in a picturesque setting with fabulous walks.
The stone exterior of this pretty cottage is reflected on the inside where several walls have been left exposed providing a glimpse of its past. The living room is very welcoming and cosy with two large plump sofas framing a wood burning AGA stove. Skylights flood the room with natural light and in the evening you can curl up with the burner crackling away as you enjoy a glass of something delicious and watch a movie or catch up with loved ones.
The kitchen is charming and comes fully equipped, it even has a dishwasher, and you will find everything you need to cook a delicious meal which you can share at the dining table which is a cosy fit for six. Everywhere you look there is interesting art, flowers and ornamentation that gives the place a really homely vibe. The hosts have also filled the rooms with books for you to enjoy – everything from thrillers to contemporary literature is available so there is something to please all tastes. So if the weather's poor why not spend a rainy day, curled up by the AGA with a big cup of hot chocolate and a book and nothing else to do? The cottage also has underfloor heating throughout so you'll be toasty and warm whatever time of year you visit.
Three beautifully appointed bedrooms are simply decorated with comfortable beds, crisp linens and warm blankets. The first has a double bed with an ensuite, the second is also a double, and the third is a twin, ideal for kids or friends sharing. The last two rooms share a luxurious family bathroom with a deep tub and separate shower where you can luxuriate and indulge yourself with the locally sourced toiletries.
After a great night's sleep with nothing but the sound of the Loch nearby for company you can head up and make yourself a coffee. If it's a sunny morning you might like to head out to the bench and enjoy the stunning view of Pennymore, or sit yourself at the table where, on clement days, you can dine alfresco. Loch Fyne is famous for its seafood, especially its oysters, so you might like to plan a little local shopping trip for a very special supper.
You'll be a short stroll from the Point and the lovely shoreline where you can take in the sea air and keep an eye out for the local seals and dolphins. You'll find an extraordinary variety of wildlife in this area as the hamlet of Pennymore is at the centre of the 3,000 acre forest of Kenmore.
If you need to stock up you'll be a 10-minute drive from the village of Furnace further down the loch. And from there you can hit the main road and head out for day trips exploring Argyll's coast. About 20 minutes away you'll find Inveraray which is a great spot for restaurants and pubs. The host recommend the characterful George Hotel and the famous Samphire Seafood Restaurant for a great meal.
