Set amongst the scenic Wiltshire countryside is this charming 18th century brewhouse. The newly refurbished home features all the modern luxuries needed for a comfortable stay but still retains its rustic country charm. Sleeping up to four guests in two ensuite bedrooms, it is perfect for family and friends (and a canine companion) looking to escape to a peaceful, rural setting. Your hosts also own an award-winning country pub just up the road, where you can sample traditional English beer and great food, and a Farm Shop stocked full of wonderful local produce and goodies. And what better way to round off your stay than with a revitalising treatment at the Spa Barn?
Built in the 1700s, the property was once the brewhouse and store for the neighbouring Edington Priory. Step inside and you are welcomed into a warm and inviting farmhouse-style cottage, full of original features like exposed wooden beams and brickwork. At the heart of the home is a cosy living area with a comfy sofa and armchairs, where guests can watch a film or read one of the books provided beside the wood-burning stove. Behind the seating area is a compact kitchen, fully equipped with modern appliances, and a dining table crafted from reclaimed wood.
On the ground floor of the home, you’ll also find a games room with a dart board and foosball table, ideal for some competitive fun. Doors from the kitchen lead out to the lovely garden. Here you can dine alfresco on the patio or relax on one of the loungers, taking in the stunning country views. The two bedrooms are upstairs and both have sumptuous queen size beds to sink into after a day of exploring the area. Each room has an ensuite bathroom for added privacy, with a walk-in shower and heated towel rail.
Guests staying at The Brewhouse have access to the the Spa Barn, which offers a selection of treatments that will nurture your wellbeing in a gentle holistic way. With an extensive treatment list, ranging from tranquil body massages to wellness activities, they have treatments to suit all.
The Brewhouse is the perfect base from which to discover this idyllic part of the country. Salisbury Plain is right on your doorstep and is a great spot for hiking, as well as being famous for Stonehenge and the Westbury White Horse. The area is steeped in history, home to the unspoilt site of the Battle of Ethandun and the village of Imber, which was repurposed as a training ground for American troops during World War II. Further afield is Bath, a vibrant city renowned for its imposing architecture, museums, shops and restaurants.
