Eastbury Cottage, a charming 17th-century building, was originally designed as part of a gentleman’s residence along with the adjoining townhouse which is now a luxury hotel. You’ll find the cottage in the historic market town of Sherborne in north west Dorset. It has been lovingly restored to create a stylish home away from home while preserving all the character of the original building with furnishings and objet d’art to complement the period of the property. Inside, you’ll find a Victorian-style bathtub and an Inglenook fireplace, while outside a pretty walled garden is the perfect spot for some alfresco dining, or you can follow the garden path to find the hot tub.

Step inside and you’ll find the sitting room is the heart of this cosy cottage. Sofas and armchairs are gathered around the impressive inglenook fireplace and the old copper pans and kettles on display. The beautiful brickwork and exposed wooden beams add to the charm of the space. You’ll find the dining room adjoining the sitting room with a beautiful solid oak table and space for six guests. Enjoy delicious dinners with the family here, perhaps followed by a board game or two.

There is a well-equipped kitchen which features a dishwasher and washing machine. You’ll also find a welcome hamper waiting for you on arrival with all the essentials to get you started and a few treats to help you settle into the holiday mood. On sunny days, take your meals outside to the pretty walled garden with a dining table and barbecue. In the evenings, stroll down the garden path to relax in the traditional wooden hot tub with a glass of something delicious.

There are three bedrooms in the cottage, all luxurious double rooms with their own personalities. The master bedroom has an ensuite, a sumptuous super king-size bed and a victorian style bath. There’s another super-king room under the eaves of the cottage and the final bedroom has a walk-in wardrobe and an adjoining bathroom.

Guests staying in the cottage have full access to the hotel facilities, including the exclusive Spa and Seasons Restaurant, open for breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner. Relax in the award-winning walled garden surrounded by lavender, roses, bluebells and magnolia and explore the herb garden, utilised by the restaurant. Wander through the woodland area of the garden or challenge the family to a game of croquet or badminton. There’s plenty to do in the local area too, from exploring Sherborne itself, to picturesque walks at Stourhead Gardens and day trips to the Jurassic Coast.
