Sunny converted barn in Lanteglos near Camelford Cornwall, with games room, log burners, beautiful garden, pond and BBQ, close to lovely beaches.
Stone Barn is a pretty barn conversion nestled in the tranquil countryside of Camelford in the peaceful hamlet of Lanteglos. It would be a wonderful holiday destination for a family with children, or a group of friends seeking a proper Cornish getaway within easy travel of some stunning beaches.
The interior is bright, sunny and cheerful with charming nods to the seaside throughout. Wooden floors, pale walls and duck egg blue doors give the place a soothing vibe and the art and soft furnishings remind you where you are with the odd lobster and a few fish and beaches on display. There's even a map of the coast to show you where you are!
Upstairs you'll find an open plan living, dining and kitchen area that's well laid out and cosy without being cramped. The kitchen is fully equipped and you can enjoy a hearty breakfast or lazy supper at the six-seater dining table. At the other end you have a snug seating area with a wood burner for cosy evenings in with a movie.
There are three bedrooms, all decorated similarly with pale walls, comfy beds and plenty of storage. One is a double with ensuite, and the other two have twins and share a family bathroom with a big tub and a hand held shower. Pop your towels on the heated rail and sink into the bubbles with a paperback.
Outside you'll find two separate seating areas. The patio doors lead out to a decking area where you can fire up the BBQ, pour a glass of wine and enjoy the sun setting over Camel Valley. At the top of the garden is a large pond where you can also sit and unwind with the view.
Just off the patio is the added bonus of a large games room, just in case the Cornish weather isn't playing ball, where you'll find a pool table, air hockey, darts and plenty of board games. There's another cosy seating area with a TV and DVD player where you can leave the children to enjoy themselves, or join them for a game. There's also another log burner creating a warm and inviting space whatever the weather.
The hamlet of Lanteglos is quiet and tranquil and you can have a wander round the 14th century church there, or play a game of golf at Bowood. Camelford is the nearest town, just over a mile away, and if you fancy visiting the Museum of Witchcraft in Boscastle you're about four-and-a-half miles from there. They also have a fantastic farm shop and restaurant which is well worth a visit.
The closest beach is Trebarwith Strand which has a long stretch of golden sand backed by flat rocks and steep cliffs. Other beaches and areas that make excellent day trips include the fishing harbour at Padstow where you'll find some fantastic restaurants (including Rick Stein's), Rock, which is thought to be one of the most beautiful places in Cornwall and has breathtaking beaches and scenery, and Port Isaac, which you'll recognise from the series Doc Martin, and has countless coastal paths to explore. And don't forget you're in the heart of foodie heaven so book ahead for some stunning meals at Nathan's Outlaw's, The Mariners and The Oyster Catcher.
