The Old Cow Byre dates back to the 19th century and has been beautifully renovated with couples in mind. With its secluded setting and cosy interior, it would be ideal for a romantic getaway during any season.

The interior has a light and airy aspect with an open plan living, dining and kitchen area that's spacious for two people and has been thoughtfully decorated. One half of the main living area has been designed for maximum cosiness on chilly evenings with a big, soft sofa and a deep leather armchair by the Esse wood burner, perfect for curling up with a good book or snuggling together under a blanket and watching a movie on the flat screen. There's plenty of wood to keep the fire burning, and shelves filled with books to peruse.

The centre of the dining room has a wooden dining table where you can both enjoy a candlelit supper with views of the meadow through the big bi-fold doors bringing the tranquility of the outdoors inside.

The Devol kitchen is handmade and modern with everything you'll need to cook delicious meals with locally sourced produce and the hosts have provided an espresso maker for that all important morning cup of coffee.

The home is on one level with three steps leading up from the kitchen to the bedroom where you'll find a super-king sized bed made wonderfully comfy by its handmade Millbrook mattress. Simply decorated in soothing colours with crisp linens and warm blankets you'll sleep deeply and rise to the quiet of a countryside valley.

Start your day with a soak in the tub or a long rainfall shower in the pretty tiled bathroom, wrap yourself in one of the fluffy luxurious towels and let the underfloor heating warm your feet.

Breakfast together at the table with the wood burner creating a cosy nook, or take your coffee out on to the floating oak balcony overlooking a private wildflower meadow with idyllic views of the Devon countryside which is part of the Blackdown Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. As well as a table and chairs, you'll find a BBQ and rattan sofa where you can sink back into the soft seating. There's also a fire pit below, surrounded by wood stumps, if you fancy toasting some marshmallows.

The Old Cow Byre is perfectly located to explore everything the region has to offer and on a sunny day you can make the 20 minute drive to the Jurassic Coast and enjoy the selection of stunning beaches. Whether it's swimming and sand, long walks across the pebbles or a day of fossil hunting, you'll find it there.

Enjoy lovely walks from your doorstep and lots of cosy country pubs where you can get a pint from the barrel and chat to the locals. If you're a foodie you'll find plenty of interesting independent restaurants and famous names like Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall nearby where you can book a table and indulge yourself. Bridport is a close by and you can buy fresh seafood from several places near the water. Lyme Regis is close too and full of quirky shops and cafes. With farm shops, vineyards and pubs, fine dining destinations and fresh crab from a shack on the beach, you can fill every day with something memorable and fun.

A beautiful place for a peaceful break. Wonderful walks close by and the views were stunning. Everything was spotlessly clean and our host was welcoming and friendly. We would love to return when we are able and have no hesitation in recommending The Old Cow Byre for a relaxing holiday.

We have visited the Byre a few times now …it is one of our favourite places to retreat to and recharge! Set in a beautiful out-of-the-way location, it is simply, but stylishly, furnished, exceptionally clean, well equipped and cosy and warm, especially when the log burner is lit! The superking bed is the comfiest that we have ever slept in, with a feather duvet and cotton sheets, and the outdoor sofa takes in the stunning views….and is the perfect place to just “be” at the end of the day with a glass of wine! Rob is such a friendly kind host, there when we need something (which this time we did, as our car battery went dead!) but giving us complete privacy. We rarely return to places, but the Byre is one that we will always want to go to! We cannot recommend it enough….although don’t want to, as we don’t want it to get booked up!!!!

If you want to enjoy peace and quiet in combination with a magnificent view, come to "the old Beyer". A wonderful accommodation for 2 people. Everything as stated in the description. Highly recommended!
