This traditional slate stone cottage is an ideal location to immerse yourself in the awe-inspiring natural beauty and quaint villages of the Lake District. The cottage is fitted with a range of contemporary amenities to ensure luxury and ease during your stay. You're also fabulously situated at the end of a delightful private track and less than 10 minutes' walk to three pubs, two cafes and a really good shop!
You will be able to quickly dispel any frostiness on winter evenings thanks to the underfloor heating and the wonderful Clearview woodburning stove (logs are provided) as you snuggle up on the comfy sofa in front of the flames. The open plan living and dining area is ideal for socialising – from cosy movie nights with the DVD player, to gathering around the dining table to plan tomorrow’s adventures.
Relaxation and luxury are inevitable in the master bedroom where guests will sink into the pure cotton sheets of the super-king size bed to idle away quiet evenings with a gripping book or misty mornings with breakfast in bed. The second bedroom is equally lavish with another super-king size bed which can be transformed into twin beds. The most exceptional feature of both bedrooms is certainly the incredible vistas of the rural landscape which guests will admire as natural light fills the delightful rooms every morning.
The superb bathroom facilities accentuate the peaceful luxury of your lifestyle in this cottage where you will be able to unwind after a tiring hike in the double-ended bath or kick off the day in the separate power shower.
Take advantage of the excellent kitchen facilities to whip up a delectable meal. You might even take it to the outdoor table and chairs where you can enjoy your alfresco feast with a glass of wine under the stars or marvelling at the sunset. The outdoor seating area is also a lovely spot to listen to harmonious birdsong as you sip your morning coffee. And if you fancy it, you can even try your hand at some wild swimming, which is available right on your doorstep. Nearby wild swimming opportunities include Great Langdale Beck and Elterwater, which are both just a five-minute walk away. You're also nicely placed to visit Blea Tarn (which for years featured on the opening credits of Countryfile) and also the serenely atmospheric Buckstones Jump at Rydal made famous by Alice Roberts. And Coniston Water is also just a short drive away, which is the most wonderfully serene large lake. The owners also highly recommend Alcock Tarn at Grasmere!
There are endless opportunities to get active in nature on your doorstep – hike the amazing fells or cycle through Grizedale Forest (there is bike storage at the cottage, or you can hire a bike from Ghyllside Cycle in Ambleside). For adrenaline seekers, activities such as canoeing and horse-riding are at your fingertips. Wildlife lovers will be awed by the brilliant bird watching opportunities, as well as the enchanting roe deer and red squirrels which inhabit the region.
Walk just eight minutes to reach the quaint village of Chapel Stile where you can purchase local groceries or enjoy a refreshing pint at Wainwrights Inn. Visit the charming Far Sawrey to see Beatrix Potter’s old home, having spent your days traversing the landscape and observing the animals which inspired her writing.
