New Stickle Cottage is a renovated stone cottage with all the quintessential character of a Beatrix Potter illustration, yet all the practical perks needed for modern lifestyles. A home brimming with quirks and character, the rooms have been rearranged to maximise light, space and the views. Sleeping quarters are located on the ground floor, preserving the picturesque views of the fells for the daytime.
Three stylishly comfortable bedrooms are located on the ground floor. Compromising a king, a double and a twin, all rooms are bright and spacious with plentiful storage, hotel-quality bed linen and stylish touches.
A modern family bathroom, featuring a large spa bath and separate walk-in shower is located on the ground floor. You’ll find twin wash basins mounted in granite worktops and ample storage in the vanity unit beneath. Access from the bathroom leads out to the newly built utility room, beyond which is the integral garage, ideal for securely storing your bikes, paddleboard, dry suits, camping and walking equipment. A second shower room is located on this floor also with shower, wash basin and WC. A quirky, tall rectangular window invites light whilst retaining privacy.
Make your way up the solid wood staircase to the half landing, where glazed French doors draw in light from the garden and offer instant access to the serenity of the outdoors. Dine on the patio and drink in the peace and tranquillity of your surroundings beneath the outline of the Langdale peaks. Continue up the second flight of stairs, arriving on the landing of the first floor, where a further shower room containing a wash basin, WC and large shower is warmed by underfloor heating.
On the first floor, you’ll come to the carpeted lounge, a large, light and inviting room with spectacular views through a big window. This is a peaceful backdrop for morning yoga or simply a relaxing setting for your morning cup of tea. Windows to two further sides of the space ensure abundant light flow, enhanced at dusk by the modern spotlighting to the ceiling.
Warmth emanates from the high-quality Clearview wood-burning stove which is easy to light and smokeless, offering all the beauty of a real fire with ease of use. The living room boasts a flat-screen TV and sumptuous sofas with plentiful comfy seating for six guests. Board games and books are also provided for those relaxing post-walk afternoons spent in the beautiful cottage.
Across from the lounge is the beautifully spacious and light kitchen, a room which is awash with light from the large windows which frame striking views out over the fells. The hub of the home, this room’s charm is a draw for friends and family, who can sit at the central island with a drink and chat as dinner is prepared, before moving to the dining table by the window. Pleasantly practical with plentiful preparation space on the worktops, integrated appliances include a dishwasher and double Bosch ovens.
Outside, the gently sloping rear lawn guides the eye towards the ever-present fells. A large patio is ideal for drinks, alfresco dining and entertaining, with a handy shed for stashing garden furniture over the winter months. Savour the garden views of the surrounding fells. Springtime is especially picturesque, with local fields populated by newborn lambs. Quiet and peaceful in the afternoon sun, enjoy a snooze on your lounger to the gentle soundtrack of bleating lambs.
An unrivalled location for lovers of nature and the outdoors, step outside and find yourself upon a fellside of your choosing. Just a stone’s throw away you’ll find The New Dungeon Ghyll and Sticklebarn public houses, offering breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinks all day, giving you the option of dining in or out during your trip. With a range of mountain biking trails, road cycling, hill walking, fell running, trail running and wild swimming opportunities available on the doorstep, you’ll be spoiled for choice.
