Meadowcroft is a stunning holiday cottage set within the Bolton Abbey Estate in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The 1930s property has been carefully restored by the owners, a builder and an interior designer, with care and attention put into every detail. The result is a luxurious, modern home that retains its authentic charm and character. The cottage is perfectly located as a base from which to discover the idyllic Dales' countryside, with a plethora of footpaths and cycle trails right on your doorstep.
Guests arrive at the entrance hall, where oak parquet flooring and William Morris wallpaper offer a warm welcome and a first taste of the beautifully decorated interiors. At the heart of the home is the first of two living areas, a south-facing sitting room which is bathed in natural light from large bay windows that provide views across the countryside and out to Beamsley Beacon. A lovely spot to unwind, with comfy sofas set around a period fireplace with log burning stove (an endless supply of logs and kindling are provided). The second living space doubles as a cinema room, boasting a huge 65” smart TV and ample seating for guests to settle in for a movie night.
The kitchen at Meadowcroft is a cook’s dream, expertly handcrafted with premium quartz work surfaces, state-of-the-art appliances and all the cookware and essentials needed to prepare a feast. Meals can be shared in the chic dining room, where large French doors can be opened in the summer to let the sunshine in. The enclosed garden wraps around the cottage and features a spacious, furnished terrace. It’s the perfect place for soaking up some rays or dining alfresco and taking in the far-reaching views.
When it’s time to sleep, guests can retreat to four bespoke suites, one super-king size, one king size, one double and one bunk room. Each room is well furnished, and beds are fitted with comfy mattresses and super soft bedding to ensure a restful night after a day of adventuring. Don’t worry about queues for morning showers, the home has three bathrooms with underfloor heating to warm cold feet.
The 30,000-acre Bolton Abbey Estate, owned by the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire, is open to the public and is just a short stroll from the house. It has many miles of picturesque walking routes and is home to a 12th century Augustinian Bolton Priory, a popular tourist attraction. There are also plenty of other activities in the local area, including a steam railway, an adventure farm and a selection of golf courses. If you’ve worked up an appetite from all that walking, why not head to the Michelin Starred Devonshire Arms Brasserie and Bar for a true culinary experience? The towns of Skipton, Ilkley and Harrogate are also all within reach.
