Amidst the picturesque setting of the harbour village of Portpatrick, you’ll find this charming little house. Dating back to the late 18th century, Kirk View has been beautifully renovated to retain its traditional character while adding plenty of modern style in the way of Scandinavian furnishings. Just a few minutes' stroll from the beach and with the breathtaking west coast of the Rhins of Galloway on the doorstep, this is the perfect spot for couples or solo travellers to get away from it all and unwind.
Step inside and you’ll find yourself in the thoughtfully designed kitchen which might be small but is fully equipped with everything you need from an air fryer to a dishwasher. There’s even equipment for you to make yourselves freshly ground coffee in the morning to enjoy out on the patio or to take back to bed with you. Move through to the living room with its lovely oak floors, panelled walls and soft lighting creating a cosy atmosphere. Enjoy your meals at the dining table before snuggling up on the sofa in the evenings in front of the log burner. There’s also a work station tucked away just in case you need to get a few things done during your stay.
Head up the stairs to the bedroom which also has a relaxed, cosy feel to it with its soothing colour palette and sloping ceiling. The warm lighting and sumptuous king size bed will help you wind down in the evenings and the stylish brass clothes rail provides plenty of storage space. You’ll find Egyptian cotton towels waiting for you in the ensuite bathroom which features Burlington fittings and a large electric shower.
You’ll find plenty of exploring to do within easy reach of the house. Start with a stroll down to the picturesque harbour and watch the boats coming and going with the village’s pretty houses in the background. If you fancy stretching your legs, head out along the coastal path. If you head south, you’ll come across the ruins of Dunskey Castle perched high above the water after about half a mile. Hop in the car and venture a little further down the coast to Port Logan Fish Pond, a natural sea life centre that’s over 200 years old and home to a wide variety of local marine life. Back in Portpatrick, you’ll find several friendly pubs and hotels serving up delicious food with stunning views out over the water.
