Former Swiss army truck converted into a luxurious glamping experience set in the picturesque County Down countryside.
Quirky and unique, luxurious and stylish, this former 1950s Swiss army truck has been lovingly restored to create the ultimate glamping experience. Sitting amongst lush woodland in a private setting on a beautiful country estate, Myrtle offers guests the chance to unwind and relax in tranquil surroundings while experiencing a glamorous alternative to camping.
Romantic and cosy, couples will love the intimacy and comfort of this little treasure. An upholstered leather sofa sits by the vintage patio doors and guests can spend time nursing hot tea as they gaze out over the fields, all whilst warming their toes by the antique wood burner.
When the sun is out, guests can take dinner outside onto the raised deck area where they can grill meat over the fire pit. Sit back with a drink and listen to the birds sing their sunset songs before marvelling at the night sky. Pretty fairy nights illuminate the paddock creating a magical atmosphere which will long linger in the memory.
When it's time for sleep, the large, raised double bed keeps guests cosy and snug, especially as the bed is heated from underneath. After a deep, restful sleep, hop out of bed, pull back the thick curtains and bask in the sunshine while the coffee brews on the wood burning stovetop.
A separate cylindrical trailer houses the stunning pine sauna with the breath taking circular window offering guests a beautiful view as they sit and steam their stresses away. There is a pine bathroom with copper fittings and an indulgent rainfall shower for luxuriating in after the sauna. Turn the dial to cold for an icy blast after the steamy sauna experience. Bathrobes and white fluffy towels await guests when they emerge.
Myrtle sits in the grounds of the historic Larchfield Estate. Its close proximity to Belfast, plus its enviable location in the heart of the County Down countryside, makes it a great base for exploring across Northern Ireland, including the Royal Village of Hillsborough just 10 minutes away. For eating out, head to The Pheasant based just outside the estate walls, or one of many award winning eateries in Hillsborough just 10 minutes away, such as Hara, The Hillside or The Poacher’s Pocket. For those keen to explore Belfast City, the cultural Cathedral Quarter is just a 20 minute drive away. For the best burgers try Bunsen or for something special make a reservation at the Michelin-starred Muddlers Club.
