Prairie Lodge at Longleat Estate is a charming holiday retreat that allows you and your loved ones to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Situated on the edge of this marvellous safari park, you can relax in the peaceful cottage or venture out and explore the park, taking in the beautiful estate and the amazing animals all around you. You may even spot the local wildlife in the surrounding fields, including majestic deer, nimble rabbits and graceful birds of prey.
The lodge is Grade II listed, and originates from the late 17th century. Once a farmhouse catering to the needs of workers cultivating the corn farm on Park Hill, the cottage has now been renovated and offers groups of up to six (four adults and two children) a delightful break in the countryside.
Get comfy in the cosy lounge, which has two big leather sofas where you can settle in with a morning coffee or an evening glass of wine. There are also two lovely armchairs here, making this a wonderfully social place to relax with loved ones.
Prepare delicious feasts in the nicely equipped kitchen and then dine on the rustic dining table, that makes dinner times a joy.
When bedtime beckons, you can venture up to one of the three delightful bedrooms. The lodge features two bedrooms with super-king size beds and one with bunk beds that are perfect for smaller guests or anyone under 12 years of age. A cot and highchair are also available on request.
During your stay you will want to explore the Longleat Safari, where you'll come face to face with some of the most awe-inspiring inhabitants. Marvel at the intricate patterns of cheetah spots, greet the towering giraffes and acquaint yourself with the newest additions to our wild family, the African painted dogs.
As well as its incredible Safari experience, Longleat has much to offer, including stunning scenic walks, a vast lake set into the woodland, a huge hedge maze, the Longleat railway (a brilliant way to see this huge estate), and as guests at Longleat you will have entrance to all of the attractions every day of your stay and discounts to the restaurants and shops.
It's impossible to get bored at Longleat, but if you fancy a day outside of the estate you won't be far from Bath, where you can take advantage of the many spas, restaurants and shops. And Frome is well worth a visit if you love a town full of independent shops, artists, and bars.
