These three cottages on Longleat Safari Park have fabulous locations and would be perfect for a small family or friends seeking a holiday in the country with plenty of activities to keep them entertained. Each cottage sleeps four guests and offer great access to all the delights that Longleat has to offer.
Up first is the outstanding Carpenter's Cottage, nestled in a leafy glade, a short stroll from Longleat's Main Square and all the attractions it has to offer. The interior is elegant and stylish with a cosy living room where you can lounge on the window seats or snuggle into the sofa by the wood burner after a day of exploring. The kitchen is modern and fully equipped with island seating for two or a dining table for four, ideal for romantic dinners.
There are two bedrooms, one double and one twin, both beautifully decorated with antique furnishings and comfy beds. A shared bathroom has all the modern amenities, heated towel rail, a deep bath with a shower overhead and lovely tiles where you can soak away in the bubbles on a rainy day. A pretty private garden provides an excellent place for alfresco dining and morning cups of coffee as you make your plans for the day. The woodland position of the cottage offers direct access to the Pleasure Walk arboretum.
Second on the list is East Lodge, which makes up half of the Grade I listed Horningsham Lodge which is situated halfway between Longleat House and the village of Horningsham and serves as the south entrance to Longleat Park. The interior is warm and welcoming with a cosy snug decked out in colourful velvet soft furnishings, with books on shelves and some fun curios dotted about. The open plan kitchen is fully equipped for cooking fabulous meals, which you can enjoy at the four-seater dining table.
When it's time for bed you'll find a super-king size room on the first floor which can be made into a twin. The room is decadent with peacock colours and plump pillows. This floor is also home to the shared bathroom which has a big bathtub with a shower overhead. Up on the second floor you'll find the second bedroom which is set up as a twin room but can be made into a double as required, and is beautifully furnished and very inviting. In the morning enjoy breakfast in the large private garden.
Finally, Keeper's House boasts some of the most magnificent views, being located on the east side of the property and overlooking the East African Reserve at the heart of Longleat's Safari Park. The interior has been decked out with a comfy leather sofa, armchair and a wood burner to make you feel extra cosy and warm in the evenings. As with all the properties the attention to detail in the furniture and ornamentation makes these stays particularly charming and unique. There's a good sized kitchen with a central island and everything you could need to prepare a good meal to enjoy at the six seater table in the dining room.
Upstairs are two bedrooms, a super-king which can be made into twins and twins that can be made into a double, making this an excellent property for friends sharing. The beds are comfortable with lovely linens and warm duvets. The bathroom has a superb view of the Safari Park, with separate shower and bath where you can luxuriate in bubbles! In the morning head out to the alfresco dining table on the terrace and enjoy your breakfast with a view of the zebras, wildebeests, ostriches, and visitors during the summer months will see giraffes.
Longleat has so much to offer, from its incredible wildlife, to the vast lake, the forest glade and the giant hedge maze. There's a Longleat train which is a fun way to see the estate, and you'll find shops and restaurants as well. As a guest at Longleat you will have access to all the Longleat attractions and discounts at the restaurants and shops. Picnic by the lake or explore the grounds and see what wildlife you spot. For days outside of Longleat you might like to visit Frome which has some fabulous independent shops, friendly locals and is known for its artistic environment. Bath is also close by for spa days, fine dining and great bars.
