Tucked away on a hillside in the New Forest, surrounded by greenery and wildlife, you’ll find this beautiful oak framed house. It’s at the end of a gravel track, away from busy roads and overlooking a canopy of trees, almost giving the feel you’re in a treehouse. The smart and chic interior design takes inspiration from the Hamptons. Furnishings have been brought over from the US, utilising neutral fabrics and creating a calming atmosphere, perfect for a relaxing rural escape in plenty of luxury.
The house is clad in beautiful black timber which fits in with the surroundings, complementing the rich green of the trees. Large windows throughout the house and an oak framed glass extension let in plenty of natural light and there are wonderful views through the treetops and down to the water meadow. You might spot a few ponies grazing along with deer if you’re lucky.
The living spaces are large and thoughtfully designed. The sitting room has a deep, comfy sofa and a bench seat in front of a big window, the perfect spot to curl up with a book. The kitchen and dining area is an open plan space that also has access onto the terrace in case you fancy dinner outdoors. There’s also a family room across the decking in the summer house, a great addition in case you need a bit of downtime or the kids want a space of their own.
There are three good sized bedrooms, two doubles and a twin, all with lovely views onto the hillside. As the sun starts to set, some of the local wildlife will start to make an appearance and you might hear an owl or two. The bedrooms share two family bathrooms and you can choose between a long soak in the large bath or the refreshing walk-in shower.
Outside, there’s a verandah that wraps around the front of the house with some seating so you can soak up the view. Move around to the terrace and you’ll find a great spot for outdoor dining and a cabana with a sofa sheltered from any rain.
If you want to explore the local area, start by heading up the hill behind the house for some fantastic views. There are plenty of great walking routes, many of which go via some of the local pubs. Or you can pack a picnic and stop for lunch while enjoying the view from one of the hillsides. There are also some great cycling routes for road cyclists and mountain bikers, or you could take a more leisurely approach on horseback. There’s a water park 10 minutes down the road or if the beach is more your thing, Mudeford and Avon beaches are both less than 30 minutes drive.
