Tucked away in a quiet spot amongst the rolling hills of Wiltshire’s Cranborne Chase Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, this beautiful 17th century Grade II listed thatched cottage is the perfect place to escape the hustle and bustle. You’ll be able to set off along scenic walking trails right from the front door or enjoy a day out in Salisbury or Shaftesbury nearby. When the sun is shining, challenge the family to a tennis match on the court or rustle up some lunch on the BBQ. As evening draws in, snuggle up in your cosy bolthole with dinner in the state-of-the-art extension before putting your feet up in the 400-year-old living room surrounded by its charming original features.
The 17th century cottage has recently been renovated with an extension creating a bit of extra space for contemporary living and dining spaces. This means the interior is a cosy blend of modern luxury and rustic, original features. Step into the cottage via the kitchen which you’ll find fully equipped with everything you’ll need for a self catering holiday, including a dishwasher and underfloor heating to keep you toasty in the winter. Eat at the breakfast bar or gather everyone around the table in the stylish dining room with its floor-to-ceiling windows letting in plenty of natural light.
There are two cosy living spaces, one in the original section of the cottage with its 17th century wooden beams and open fireplaces still on display. The other is set in the contemporary extension with a 65” TV and big comfy sofas, perfect for evenings in with a good film. On warmer days, head out to the secluded garden space at the back of the cottage where you can relax in the sunshine with a glass of something and enjoy the scenery.
Head upstairs to find the three bedrooms, all relaxing spaces with sloping ceilings and uninterrupted views over the countryside. The main bedroom has a luxurious king size bed with an ensuite shower room. There’s a second king size room and an ensuite room that can be set up as a twin or with a super-king size double, offering plenty of flexibility for groups. If you need a bit of extra sleeping space there’s a king size sofa bed in the snug downstairs. There’s also a family bathroom with a free-standing bath tub, the perfect spot to relax after a long walk through the fields.
You’ll find Longs Farm down a quiet country lane in the little village of Sutton Mandeville with plenty to see and do in the surrounding area. Go for long walks in the Cranborne Chase Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty or explore the bustling market town of Shaftesbury with its iconic Gold Hill. Head to Salisbury to visit the magnificent cathedral and learn more about the history of the area or stop off at Old Sarum for stunning views over the city. Enjoy days out at Longleat, Wilton House and Wardour Castle or stroll through the Victorian gardens at Larmer Tree.

Have you stayed here?
Leave a reviewWe had the most amazing stay at Longs Farm. This is a beautiful house set in a peaceful location. The house is so well designed and thought out. We were a party of 4 adults, 3 kids and 1 dog and it was perfect for us. Everything you can think of is provided even for the dog. The tennis court is fabulous much better than we had expected and the kids absolutely loved it even in February. Great walks right from the house and some amazing pubs especially The Compass Inn within very close proximity to the house. Gardens are beautiful and we are hoping to return in the summer to take advantage of them. Grace and the team are super helpful from making the booking right through to departure. We just wished we could have stayed for longer. Thank you
