Right in the heart of a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty by the gorgeous coastlines of Northumbria, Hemmel House is a recently built holiday rental cottage with extensive rural views and space for up to six guests between the two floors. Built using traditional materials, local craftsmen and ancient techniques, Hemmel House combines environmental consciousness with pleasing design to create a comfortable and luxurious property ideal for large families or friend groups.
One of the standout features of Hemmel House is the double-height entrance hall, which creates an immediate and lasting sense of airiness. Off this room, you'll find an open plan space combining the kitchen, dining room and sitting room, with exposed beams overhead, a Smart TV, and enormous windows on two sides, offering vistas of the stunning idylls outside. The kitchen is particularly impressive, with a range of high-end, modern amenities, including a boiling water tap, American style fridge/freezer with ice dispenser, and a full hob and range with extractor fan and warming drawer.
As well as the main sitting room area within this space, an additional, smaller sitting room can also be found on this floor with its own wood burner, along with a study. This room can double up as an additional child's bedroom, and a child's bed can be made up on request. You'll also find the master bedroom on this floor, with an en-suite shower room and spectacular views.
Up a set of hardwood stairs, a walkway will take you to the remaining two bedrooms, configured as a double bedroom with an en-suite shower room, and a room with twin singles and its own en-suite with a shower over the bath.
As well as the spacious interior, there is a range of outdoor spaces for guests of every age to enjoy. A wraparound terrace has both steps and a ramp leading to the lawn behind the house, where you'll find another terrace. There is also a patio in front of the house, and the entire garden is enclosed by fencing and a hedge, giving the parents of younger children peace of mind.
The picturesque harbour village of Craster is under a mile away via pleasing walkways, making it a great coastal destination for shopping, or a point on the longer coastal walk to Dunstanburgh Castle. For beaches, Embleton Bay is a hearty recommendation, easily reached along the bridleway on foot. Further afield, check out the world-famous Alnwick Castle, and stop by Barter Books on your way home. Closer to home, you'll find a pub just 400 yards from Hemmel House, and shops under a mile away.
