Surrounded by the rugged hills of Upper Coquet Valley in the heart of Northumberland National Park is Dipper Cottage. This off grid property with solar and wind power is located 1400 feet above sea level and offers both stunning views and great opportunities for stargazing.
The cottage sleeps six guests across three bedrooms, making it a versatile space for a trip away with family or friends. The cosy living and dining room has a wood burning stove fuelled by logs harvested from the nearby forests, as well as a comfy tweed and leather sofa, two arm chairs, a flat screen TV, and a dining table and benches seating up to six people. The well equipped kitchen has sleek white surfaces and granite work tops, as well as a single gas oven, gas hob, fridge with freezer box, microwave, and washing machine. As an added little touch from the hosts, a welcome hamper filled with local produce and a bottle of champagne will also greet those staying.
Set across one floor, there are three bedrooms including the master room with a beautiful mahogany four-poster king size bed and an en-suite wet room with a shower. Another of the bedrooms is also king size, while the final room has twin single beds. There is a further family bathroom with a shower over the bath.
There is a shared terrace to the front of the property, which is used alongside Chaffinch Cottage. These two properties can be hired together for larger groups, with Chaffinch sleeping a further four guests. At the rear is a private enclosed garden, which has outdoor furniture and an environmentally friendly Outback barbecue.
Several walking and cycling routes across the National Park start right on the doorstep, with the River Coquet winding its way through vast stretches of moorland and valleys. For those who want to venture a little further afield, nearby Cragside House and Gardens is a great day out for all the family. History lovers might appreciate Alnwick Castle, which was a location for the Harry Potter films, while the stunning beaches of the Northumberland coast can also be reached in under an hour.
The slower pace of life and vibrant energy of the hills soothes the mind, body and soul during your stay. With this in mind, the owners along with Nichola Lawson from Harmony Spa have designed a new dedicated Holistic Healing Cabin offering a wide range of treatments from aromatherapy massage to angel reiki for you to enjoy during your stay. This charming, rrustic, wooden cabin is heated using wind felled logs, which creates a warm and inviting space in-keeping with the ‘green’ ethos and enhancing a sense of well-being whilst at Kidlandlee.
