Nestled in the Cumbrian countryside, just a mile away from Hadrian’s Wall, you’ll find two traditional Mongolian-style yurts. These charming hideaways can each sleep up to four guests with log burning stoves to keep you cosy with your first fire laid ready for you. Enjoy the views that stretch as far as the Northern Pennines and the Fells of the Lake District from your private outdoor space. After a long walk along the Hadrian’s Wall Path, relax in the hot tub or fire up the BBQ to get dinner on the go in the outdoor cooking area. As the evening draws in, turn on the fairy lights and gather around the firepit and enjoy the stars.
The 18ft yurts are situated 30 metres away from each other and have screens to provide a bit of privacy while you’re relaxing in your outdoor space. This means you can enjoy the space without being disturbed, however, they’re close enough to be sociable if you want to hire both yurts for a trip away with friends.
Inside each, you’ll find a cosy space with a double bed, freshly made up with crisp white linen and the option of two extra single beds. There’s a breakfast bar and a high tech cool box to keep your food and drinks cold. In the evenings, the wood burning stove will keep you toasty and there are extra logs provided. When it’s time to go to bed, you’ll be able to stargaze through the skylight. You’ll find the private composting toilet and a hot shower with environmentally-friendly shampoo and body wash in separate cabins nearby.
There's a covered cooking area with a BBQ and a gas hob in your own private outdoor space. There’s also a picnic bench for enjoying your meals alfresco or you can always head inside to eat at the breakfast bar if it’s getting a bit chilly. Soak up the views of the surrounding countryside as you relax in the hot tub before toasting marshmallows late into the evening over the firepit with a mug of hot chocolate. The yurts are located near a protected Dark Sky area so on clear nights, the stars put on quite a show.
The yurts are located just a mile from Hadrian’s Wall Path, a 20-minute walk if you fancy exploring on foot and are not far from the longest exposed section of the wall itself. You’ll also find the forts of Birdoswald, Housesteads and Vindolanda nearby with museums and plenty of Roman artefacts to discover. There’s more history to discover at Lanercost Priory and Carlisle Castle, the latter being where Mary Queen of Scots was imprisoned. There’s plenty of walking and cycling to be done in the area but if you fancy venturing a little further and tackling a few fells, the Lake District national park is less than an hour away.
