Located amidst the unspoilt countryside of Northumberland, Doxford Farm is home to cosy, dog-friendly glamping facilities. Take all the hassle out of camping and choose between luxurious bell tents with sweeping countryside views in all directions, or the rustic charm of the glamping pods. Surrounded by miles of farmland, woodland, lakes and the coast, this is a fantastic location for families looking for a countryside escape to reconnect with the outdoors. Strap on your walking boots and explore right from your front door, or drive just four miles to the closest sandy beaches.
The glamping pods are beautiful arched wooden structures with room for four guests to sleep comfortably inside. There’s no need to sacrifice any home comforts as these clever pods have underfloor heating, power showers, WiFi, flat-screen TVs and well-equipped kitchenettes. They are perfect for families with a king-size bed and single bunks for the kids. Outside, you’ll find a picnic bench and a fire pit which doubles as a barbecue in case you fancy cooking outside.
The bell tents are four metres across, so can comfortably accommodate a couple with room to bring the kids along as well. Each has a double bed with two futons which are suitable as a single bed for children. You’ll also have your own picnic table alongside a barbecue/fire pit which can be used for cooking up a feast or toasting some marshmallows in the evening as you do a bit of stargazing. There are separate bathroom facilities alongside an area for washing up the dishes after dinner.
The farm is located near the charming town of Alnwick (10 minutes away) and is just a few miles from the sea and several sandy beaches. Bamburgh Castle, perched majestically on the coast, is just five miles away and makes a great day out for the family. A little way along the coast, you’ll be able to catch a boat trip to see the Farne Islands, one of the most famous bird sanctuaries in England and also a favourite spot of a large colony of Atlantic Seals. Alnwick Castle is also nearby, a must for any Harry Potter fans.
