Located just a mile from the historic village of Bamburgh and close to its iconic castle on the coast, Bamburgh Under Canvas is a peaceful, adults-only glamping site. It offers luxuriously furnished lotus bell tents complete with proper beds and with hot showers and flushing toilets on site. Wake up surrounded by nature in complete comfort before spending the day exploring the beaches and award-winning shops of Bamburgh. In the evening, enjoy a barbecue by your tent as you relax in the last few hours of sunshine before snuggling up for a bit of stargazing.
Inside your spacious bell tent, you’ll find a double bed with a comfortable 2,000 pocket sprung mattress and crisp, fresh linen, throws and fluffy towels waiting for you. To keep you cosy whatever the weather outside, there’s a wood-burning stove. This little stove also has a hot plate to heat up your coffee in the morning or hot chocolates in the evening.
Each tent has its own fire pit which doubles as a barbecue and there’s also a gas stove for a bit of extra cooking power. There’s a cool box for storing your supplies and a bottle or two of something. You’ll also find a battery pack in each tent for keeping any of your devices charged up, along with battery-powered table lamps. Two newly-refurbished horse boxes are home to the toilets and the hot showers. As the site is off-grid, you’ll be provided with eco-friendly toiletries to limit the impact on the beautiful natural surroundings.
The glamping site is a 15-minute stroll to the vibrant village of Bamburgh where you’ll find award-winning shops and some great restaurants, such as The Potted Lobster for fresh, locally sourced seafood. Or, head to R Carter & Son to stock up on supplies for the barbecue. There's lots of local history to discover. As well as the famous Bamburgh Castle perched majestically on the coast, there’s also Alnwick Castle to visit. There’s also plenty to do down by the beach, from peaceful strolls along the shoreline to paddleboarding and coasteering adventures. There are several watersports centres that will show you the ropes, such as KA Adventure Sports and NE Surf in Bamburgh.

Leave a reviewAmazing from start to finish. It was extremely clean had everything you could possibly want or need including a very comfy bed and warm quilt plus plenty of extras. The toilet and shower were very luxurious and spotlessly clean. The host was very friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay again and recommend it!!! Well done, you have obviously put a lot of hard work into it.
