Located on a farm, just outside Northumberland National Park, Westfield House Farm Huts provides four beautifully constructed and furnished shepherd’s huts. The cosy huts are suitable for trips at any time of year, whether you prefer long summer days or snuggling up around the wood burner while doing a spot of stargazing in the winter. Each hut also has its own private, wood-fired hot tub, the perfect way to relax after a long walk in the countryside.
The huts have been designed for couples, with two huts (Demoiselle and Eyebright) being able to sleep families of up to four. The rustic style and location makes each hut perfect for those looking to escape the hustle and bustle and unwind in the peace and tranquility of nature. Step inside each hut and you’ll find an open-plan design that cleverly incorporates the kitchenette, dining, and sleeping areas. In one corner, you’ll find a wood-burner which will keep you cosy whatever the weather outside and big glass double doors in front of the dining table mean you’ll be able to enjoy the view as you tuck into your breakfast each morning.
The sleeping areas have been cleverly designed, with two huts (Curlew and Leveret) featuring comfy double beds and two featuring large, comfy double bunk beds. The bottom bunk has plenty of headroom, so even taller guests can sit up and read or enjoy a cuppa in the morning in complete comfort. The upper bunk is accessed via a ladder which can be stowed out of the way when not in use. The bunk beds can be curtained off, creating cosy little nooks, with windows and warm lighting, perfect for reading by. The bathrooms are located just past the kitchens and have a lovely warm showers.
Outside, each hut has a private little garden space which is where you’ll find the traditional wood-fired hot tub. There’s also plenty of outdoor seating and a tripod and grill over a fire pit in case you fancy a bit of cooking over open flames.
You won’t find any WiFi in the huts which makes it even easier to switch off and unwind. Think long walks in the countryside, perhaps stopping off at one of the many local pubs for lunch before heading back for a dip in the hot tub. There are some great places to eat within a few miles, such as The Three Wheat Heads at Thropton, so there’s no need to do much driving at all. If you do fancy venturing further afield, Northumberland’s National Park is one of the quietest in the country and home to some of England’s cleanest air and rivers. There are some real hidden gems within this park and Hadrian’s Wall can be found in the north.
